We stayed on the other side of the Island and didn't get experience Ton Sai until we were traveling from Phi Phi to Krabi by ferry. Very busy area and you get constantly hassled by people for boat rides. We were only here for an hour waiting for ferry transfer from Phi Phi to Krabi.

The beach is beautiful and the island is magnificent. but this area, especially if you come in high season - is crazy busy, over-crowded, noisy, full of trash - and in general - unpleasant. I guess you can find your spot if you really try to.. but a brief visit to this beach will be enough for most, unless you... More

As far as Phi Phi Don goes the better beach experience is on what I refer to as the Back of the Island (opposite side from the peer: also worth noting is that at this part distance between the two bays is only 570 feet: 173 meters) the back bay is called Loh Dalum Bay and the beach here is... We visited Ton Sai bay just for a day as we were staying up the north of the island. I am so glad we were there just for the day as it is busy, crowded, noisy etc. If you want to do some island shopping and have lots of bars and restaurants or a place to party this is for... More

Book your hotel around this area, very lively at night. Lots of restaurants, tour offices, scuba centers, atms, money exchange, bars etc.. The main beach, which means you dont have to rent a longtail boat to get to your hotel or resort, only a few minutes walk from the pier.

It is pretty cool to see when pulling into the island, however you cant really swim here due to the amount of boats, and it's not a great spot to sunbath for the same reason. We spent ten mins looking in the water at the fish but after that we moved on.

We stayed in in Ao Nang and took a longtail to Raily Beach, the two beaches are situated alondside eachother. We swam to Ton Sai around the outcrop of rock. Going was great as the tide was high, BUT don't attempt this if the tide is low, the rocks cut one terribly. The beach has outcrops of rocks that offer... More

If you look for peace and beautiful surroundings don't go there. Only bars, pubs, restaurants and souvenir shops. Place is made for young people to party at night. The best experiences were in other beaches and islands nearby. The nature was beautiful outside Tonsai. Lot's of construction going on overall Tonsai.

This is where the main pier (Tonsai Pier) is where the boats/ferries from Phuket, Krabi and other small islands come. Tonsai is the busiest area in Phi Phi island. As soon as you get off the boat or ferry, you have to pay 20 baht for municipal charges in order to keep the island clean. If you have booked a... More
