First visited here in 1998. Was beautiful. Lovely & peaceful. Still one of the best beaches in the world but the tour groups have ruined it. So extremely over crowded. Too many people, can't swim, can't relax , look anywhere and all you see in people. Too many speed boat company's coming & going all day. Give it a miss... More

It is a beautiful place but it is absolutely packed with hundreds of other visitors and boats. They say that Phi Phi is a victim of its own beauty....that's absolutely the case! Its worth a visit, just so you can say you went, but that's about it.

Breathtaking Maya bay is a must. Book a group tour to get a cheaper rate. We paid 500baht/person for a full day tour with lunch & snacks (includes Bamboo island, Monkey beach, and the other snorkelling sites & hidden lagoons) plus 100baht/person for Nature Park fee. But in my opinion, a half-day tour would suffice-- just make sure you spend... More

Very beautiful. Great snorkeling sites around the beach. Maya bay is very beautiful. We highly recommend taking a longboat at sunset. Plankton sightseeing tours should be taken at moonless nights.

OK, you just have to be smart about travelling to touristy places. Ko Phi Phi gets a bad rep because people say it's too crowded - I dislike crowded places, but I had a great experience, which I owe to my personal tour. If you would like to tour around Phi Phi and some islands - I went to Maya... More

We visited Phi Phi island as part of a day tour. It wasn't too crowded in low season which was great. The beach is beautiful, but quite rocky, so not too good for kids. The view however makes it a worthwhile trip.

we arrived when there were plenty of tourists - so was not the same impression as expected.. no free space to take a picture at Maya Bay. Overcrowded lagoon as well.

No paradise. So disappointed with our experience. Not at all as I had imagined. The number of speedboats allowed to stop here at one time is ridiculous. Not a decent photo could be taken. The high number of tourists was uncomfortable. The trek to the bathroom facilities was even more unpleasant. The toilets were filthy and many tourists are just... More

Koh Phi Phi Leh that was made famous by the 1998 movie The Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio. Maya Bay is truly beautiful (see photo) and well worth the visit even if it is crowded. Go early in the morning if you want to miss the crowds. We did it on a half-day boat trip for 500 Baht ($15)/person that also... More

the beach is undeniably picturesque. but tourism killed the paradise. i cant take pictures without wormingers at the background. it was horrific to see all the boats covering the shore. i will never go back there anymore.
