Description: Lanta Animal Welfare (LAW) is a non-profit organization based on Ko Lanta...
Lanta Animal Welfare (LAW) is a non-profit organization based on Ko Lanta. LAW's objective is to relieve the suffering and pain of the animals on the island through sterilisation and care. We are open to visitors everyday from 9am to 5pm when our volunteer staff will happily provide a guided tour of the shelter. We have lots of friendly dogs who would love a long walk and cats who would like a cuddle! The dogs spend their days in grassy outdoor pens, so like everywhere in Thailand, it's best to wear insect/mosquito repellant when visiting. Our major sponsor is Time For Lime bar, restaurant and cooking school, without their valuable support we would not be here.

I arrived around 9.45 to find out that due to the low season they were only doing tours at 12noon and 3pm. But in the mean time I could cuddle any of the lovely friendly cats that were snuggled at my feet already or take a dog for a walk! I had my tour at 12noon by one of the... More

We spent a few hours at the sanctuary and truly enjoyed it. We spent most of our time just chilling with the cats. Later we were able to take Noodle the dog for a walk through the residential area - a really neat experience. The volunteers were incredibly friendly and clearly enjoyed their work. We booked some cooking lessons at... More

We visited this place based on glowing reviews on TripAdvisor. A group of 6 of us headed in to check it out. The only slight downside was no real reception type organisation to greet us on arrival. We kind of lingered for 10 minutes until someone greeted us. From there we got a tour of the entire facility by one... More

Pure program which is truly needed in Thailand.the volunteer program seems well run and truly is a great program for young people to help and learn about animals.

Loved the fact that we could walk some of the dogs along the beach. Stray animals have a safe haven here and tourists wishing to contribute may do so here or even give some of these animals some TLC

Like many people here I went to support the efforts of the great staff and volunteers at LAW but I got much more in return. The cats were friendlier than from anywhere else I know, asking for cuddles every chance they got; and I got to walk a pooch called Ollie who's obviously loved by the volunteers. They also have... If you visit Koh Lanta you must visit this place and take time to learn about the hard work that the vets and volunteers go through to give these cats and dogs a second chance in life. I gave up some time to walk the dogs, a great way to stretch the legs and burn some calories in the morning... More
