Owner description: Lanta Animal Welfare (LAW) is a non-profit organization based on Ko Lanta. LAW's objective is to relieve the suffering and pain of the animals on the island through sterilisation and care. We are open to visitors everyday from 9am to 5pm when our volunteer staff will happily provide a guided tour of the shelter. We have lots of friendly dogs who would love a long walk and cats who would like a cuddle! The dogs spend their days in grassy outdoor pens, so like everywhere in Thailand, it's best to wear insect/mosquito repellant when visiting. Our major sponsor is Time For Lime bar, restaurant and cooking school, without their valuable support we would not be here.

If you are on Koh Lanta for a while and wanted something different to do this is perfect for a couple of hours in an afternoon. The experience itself is probably not 5*, but what is 5* is that it's different, it's great what they are doing there, it's free (donation good though) and who doesn't love to stroke loads... More

I was staying a 5min cycle ride from LAW-I purposely did this when I booked my accommodation so I could spend time there. The staff-mainly volunteers-do an absolutely wonderful job with limited resources to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome the majority of cats and dogs in their care. Anyone can take the dogs for walks and cuddle the kitty's. They run... More

Well worth a visit! We did a tour which runs every hour on the hour. Place is very clean thanks to the dedicated volunteers who just love these animals.

I thought we'd spend a few minutes a the shelter and then head to the beach. We were there an hour and a half! There is a tour of the facility which is informative. You can play with the cats, they're very friendly and will sit on your lap for a good cuddle. We didn't take any dogs for walks... More

A really good choice for an overcast day, the work they perform is a well needed service for the community and a visit here is a day very well spent!

Thsi place hosts rescued cats and dogs and take care of them. They have a surgery indeed, where the treat and help dogs and cats in bad situation to recover. Unfortunately they do their job that good that sometime some owner bring there their pets and after they heal their beloved dogs/cats they left him/her there. You can donate so... More
