Lanta Animal Welfare (LAW) is a non-profit organization based on Ko Lanta. LAW's objective is to relieve the suffering and pain of the animals on the island through sterilisation and care. We are open to visitors everyday from 9am to 5pm when our volunteer staff will happily provide a guided tour of the shelter. We have lots of friendly dogs who would love a long walk and cats who would like a cuddle! The dogs spend their days in grassy outdoor pens, so like everywhere in Thailand, it's best to wear insect/mosquito repellant when visiting. Our major sponsor is Time For Lime bar, restaurant and cooking school, without their valuable support we would not be here.

Went there during the Songkran festival. I didn't expect to see so many cats there, they are so friendly and care-free. There are collar tag in each of the cats so that we know their names. Volunteers there are so friendly and brought us around to see the dogs. Its is definitely a clean & safe environment for the animals.... More

I didn't expect much more than to see a few sick animals. But I was surprised and like my kids happy I went. So much respect for the staff on an important job. How important I did not have an idea about before I visited. You'll get a bit of education on the historie of cats and dogs in Thailand.... More

We visited the centre today and whilst we were out of dog walking hours (before 11 or after 3pm due to the summer heat), we were given a tour by one of the lovely volunteers! The centre relies completely on volunteers and donations as they do not receive any government funding! The volunteers do a wonderful job, the place is... More

Only if you intersted in animals, humans or perhaps humanity... There are nice people who dedicated thier money, time and energy to help abandoned or disabled animals... I think for those who would like to be a part of this with donating or taking dogs for a walk or even volunteering for help, seeing a good running and well managed... More

It's so good to see a center like this anywhere in Thailand, especially on an island. Most islands are overrun with stray dogs and cats that are making a nuisance of themselves, putting themselves in danger and getting mistreated. This place, that is solely ran by volunteers, takes in sick and injured animals, pets and strays and nurses them back... More

Impossible not to give 5 stars for this place, for nothing more than the dedication and hard work of the volunteers who run the place. Go for a visit and support the work these guys put in.

You have to visit this centre and do the tour and donate. It's so sad how many cats and dogs are abandoned or hurt. They do such a good job here looking after them. The vets are free and the animals are adopted after. Please visit

We really loved this place and it was so nice that we could go to get to know friendly dogs all by ourselves before the tour started. Patric & Storm melt my heart and I really loved the tour given us as it was so informative, all the questions were answered and atmosphere was friendly and calm. Lovely place and... More
