Lanta Animal Welfare (LAW) is a non-profit organization based on Ko Lanta. LAW's objective is to relieve the suffering and pain of the animals on the island through sterilisation and care. We are open to visitors everyday from 9am to 5pm when our volunteer staff will happily provide a guided tour of the shelter. We have lots of friendly dogs who would love a long walk and cats who would like a cuddle! The dogs spend their days in grassy outdoor pens, so like everywhere in Thailand, it's best to wear insect/mosquito repellant when visiting. Our major sponsor is Time For Lime bar, restaurant and cooking school, without their valuable support we would not be here.

Lanta Animal Welfare is a great place where you can learn about the daily tasks involved in running an animal hospital, meet loads of gorgeous cats and dogs and even play with puppies if you're lucky! You can also walk a dog if you like. All the animals are friendly, vaccinated and most are looking for forever homes. You can... More

When you visit Lanta make sure to stop by the Animal Welfare. They have reduced the idland's stray animals population by vaccinating and taking care of them usingonly donations.

We had such a special day at the shelter visiting all the beautiful animals and wonderful volunteers. We found it really hard to leave and if we weren't leaving Koh Lanta the next morning we would have been back for another visit. They do such an amazing job here and it is so we'll run, such a great cause to... More

20+ years ago I recall visiting the islands and there were so many mangled, mangy animals everywhere. It's clear to me that this group is truly doing great work as we saw nothing like that this trip. My daughters and I enjoyed the tour, enjoyed walking dogs through the interesting neighborhood- keep up the great work!

This island has a real community feel and I was told that this centre was well worth a visit by Mook Lanta Resort. I felt well informed and the dogs and cats were well cared for. As it was low season there was not a huge amount to do, so walking a well behaved dog on the beach, hit the... More

If you like cats, dogs and nice people, you should definitely visit! Everything is free of charge but after seeing the devotion the people do their job with, you probably feel like giving a donation. Maybe the best day of the holiday.

If you love animals this is a must visit on Lanta. The lovely staff will take you to see the many cats and dogs living in the shelter and explain their stories and how they can be adopted abroad. They also need flight companions for the dogs (free and a very kind thing to do) to various countries, mostly USA,... More

We had a lovely time taking a small dog for a walk with wheels for back legs. It was nice to help out and visit the centre. Hats off to the whole organisation. They are really doing an amazing job there.

We are in Koh Lanta at low season and the island is quiet, but we found a lovely day out at the animal welfare centre. One of the lovely volunteers gives you a tour and you get to meet and play with all the cats and dogs, then you can take one of the little guys out for a walk... More

If you are looking for something different and insightful when you are on Lanta, this is a place you need to visit. You don't have to know or care about cats nor dogs to fall in love with this place. This is a non profit organisation that looks after injured and/or not wanted cats and dogs. The entire experience is... More
