Yes, it is very commercialised and tacky. But lots of Thais visit the place and it's one big Thai fancy fair. The food is great... you can have a good massage or garufa treatment (little fish eating away dead tissue from your feet)... and every afternoon there is an enactment of the Suryathai (war Burma-Thailand) with lots of bravoure and... It is absolutely newly build only as the tourist shopping attraction. There is nothing traditional and also no boats.

Klong Sabua Floating Market (& water theater shows) has been under construction since October 2011, due to the flood. This market located 3 km north of Ayutthaya Island (Tambol Klong Sabua). Most of tourists did not know and visited the Ayothaya Floating Market which located near Wat Maheyong, 3 km east of Ayutthaya Island. These two floating markets are totally... More

This was a joke, or it should have been. The boats weren't even in the water...they were on stilts. There is a elephant you can feed and baby tigers chained up you can hold, but watch out for the tiger owners...they are pricks.

Floating Market is a collection of about 80 small shops built on docks, piers and stilts around a small pond or lake. It's definitely a bit touristy, but still fun, and if you're already in Ayutthaya you might as well visit. Here you can find all kinds of snacks, drinks, small restaurants, gift shops, craft shops, and other ways to... More

About an hour and half from Bangkok this is an easy floating market to visit. Very local, great to experience some of the local produce and food, worth a trip if you have time to spare after visiting the temples in and around Ayutthaya.

It is a more touristic thing for Thai people but nice to see for one hour. A little far from the old city.

On my trip to Thailand, this was an area of interest for me. I don’t feel it has been commercialized and turned into a tourist trap. If you compare it to Bangkok's JJ market, than you can see the stark contrast not only in the size and type of vendor but the origin and quality of the products available. The... More

If you are doing day-trip to Ayuttaya, skip this place. Not worth visit. Too commercialize, not many choice compare with the one near bangkok.
