It's a quiet and nice walk along the Berijam lake. Located in pristine location, the lake is serene and placid. There isnt any flow and waters look mucky, but the place is excellent for photography.

Berijam Lake is indeed a not so crowded attraction in Kodaikanal. And doesn't seem like it is going to be crowded any time soon because the Forest dept has set a rule that only 30 vehicles will be allowed to visit Berijam on any given day. And unless you are so bad on luck that all the 29 vehicles (or... More

Originally it was a swamp, 21 km south west of Kodaikanal Lake, surrounding which you can see bison, leopards, elephants, first discovered by Hamilton (1864). Very fine eco system and the lake was artificially created by by the collector of Madurai Sir Levigne (1867) and donated his retirement benefits to construct the dam. Just you note the philanthropic attitude of... More

Taken the permit from forest department for going to this lake. This is right in the center of dense forest. Forest department has limited quota of giving the permit to first 50 vehiea in the morning before 10:00 on the same day. You have to be there at the entry gate before the afternoon and return by 3-4 pm. The... More

On 25th January 2015, we woke up early in the morning, reached the District Forest Office which is located just next to the Government High School to get permission to visit Berijam Lake. Remember, they allow only 30 vehicles per day to Berijam Lake. You should be there by 8:30 to get the permission letter. This restriction doesn't end here.... More

I visited the this wonderful lake with my family on 26th november 2014. It is a heavenly lake and a must visit if you are holidaying in the Kodai hills with your family. Just ask for the Forest Tour from a tour operator near the Bus stand complex, because prior permission from the Forest Deptt. is required which they will... More

This lake is covered as part of forest tour by most of the tourist packages. Special permission from forest department is needed to visit. Driver or guide will take care of this. You can also check with travel desk in hotel. Far from the chaos of the city, enjoy in the lap of nature. Even the drive is quite adventurous. Though... More
