An interesting flat walk

Take an hour or so to walk the 5km round the lake. The scenery changes and there are some interesting houses and sites to look at. Very relaxing.

Located close to Madurai. The closest train station would be Kodai Road. Its about 2hrs drive to Kodaikannal. Always cool and scenhic. Has abundant resorts, lodges, restaurants. A must for summer vacations. Lots of attractions like boating on the lake, horse riding, cycle riding around the lake, parks, pillar rock. Abundant local fruits and veggies found here.

Nice place to sit and relax, walk, ride bicycle and even horse riding. There is a boat house. You can hire peddle boats or row boats. Rates are on the higher side. Number of shops are available near the lake. One can buy woolen clothes (especially in Tibetan shops), food items, chocolates, herbal oils, fun items etc. When we visited... More

Mostly beautiful and calm place though some areas are a little crowded . You can go around the lake if you rent a bicycle. If they permit only bicycle and ban every other vehicles, especially bikes, It will be a huge upgrade and we can enjoy the beauty completely.

We took the peddle boats here and it was an amazing experience. It feels like the whole city is centered around this lovely lake. You can also have a walk around this huge lake and do some street shopping as well.

Its quite a huge lake and you can walk around it if you like walking or if you tired, you can just sit down for a while and resume your walk. There are bicycles available for rent which charge around 50Rs/half hour , boats for around 250Rs/hour and horse riding. It would be sunny one moment and cloudy/foggy the next.... More

The lake is a highlight in Kodaikanal. The boating facility here is very good, with prompt service and they also take adequate safety precautions like life jackets etc.
