Most of the palace is pretty run down, except for the zenana

Most of the palace is in private hands and this part is poorly maintained, and smelly. There are traces of the original decorations so you get a hint of what the palace may have... read more

Funny isn't it. You read someone's review of this place and they score it a 5. I visit it yesterday and give it a score of 1. The paintings are almost impossible to see (nothing like the one posted in LP). You get to see a tiny part of this massive palace. Zero evidence of any maintenance or restoration. As... More

This palace was lovely hundreds of years ago, there is no denying that. Today, not so lovely. It is a giant pile of broken rocks, covered in pigeon poop with bats hanging from almost every ceiling. There are murals on all the walls, but there is zero maintenance here which is sad. The rocks leading up to the castle are... More

We managed to get "Billu" as a guide who was very entertaining and he got us into a few rooms you can not see without a guide. The palace should be world class, but a lack of maintenance left us disappointed.

Astounding place perched on the hillside above Bundi. Give yourself half a day up here to explore. The murals are just outstanding and there are so many corners to explore.

Most of the palace is in private hands and this part is poorly maintained, and smelly. There are traces of the original decorations so you get a hint of what the palace may have looked like, but the only part of the palace that is really worth visiting is the zenana (ladies quarters) which is under management of the Indian... I thought I was on the set of Lord of the Rings, amazing dilapidated Palace below the fort. Wonderful architecture and great to explore.... but watch out for the monkeys!

This could be a great place if they would only do a few things, like chase out the bats, not allow people to urinate in the palace and have better signage. I realize that everything cannot be saved in India, however, it would not take much to make this place suitable for the public.
