The coin museum is situated in the campus of the Indian Institute of Research in Numismatic Studies in Nasik in Maharashtra state in India. It is on the Tryambakeshwar road at a distance of about 20kms from the city of Nasik. A large extent of (more than 500 acres of) land is devoted to this institute for its activities. Anjaneri... on the way to trimbakeshwar from nasik you will see this museum,it is not very large one but a good one to initiate your child to the coin collection history, this is a government establishment, comparatively well maintained, need to pay entry fees. worth a half to 1 hour visit.

Its enroute to tryambakeshwar from nasik. Do visit if you have some time with you. All though they don't have real coins of gold to display , this museum has nicely arranged all the coins based on their time period. They also have plaster replica of certain rare coins. Must visit for kids-students ! P.S. do buy the coin cards... More

This museum is not for the average person but for the hardcore numismatist. About 45 minutes drive from the city and passing through the dusty and crowded MIDC area, it is a very good place for the numismatist who wants to do research on coins. The sprawling campus could be better utilised and the coin collection on display could be... More

This place is on the way to Nashik-Trimbakeshwar. We visited this place as family. You can spend little over an hour here. Not sure if it is worth to travel a long distance just for this but if it is on your way or you have to take a short detour then you can plan to visit this place.

When I read the other reviews of this place on TripAdvisor, I thought to myself, never mind, I'll go there, & I'll give it a rave review. Did not so happen. :( My husband is a numismatics enthusiast, & I too, am "interested". What we found disappointing about this place are as follows: 1. Really small collection. My husband says,... With an entry fee pegged at Rs.10 per head, we were a little bit disappointed with the artefacts stored inside. Quite a few of them were replicas of original coins dating back to the Mughal era & prior to that. This can certainly be skipped over other destinations should you be running short on time.

Easily accessible and identifiable on the way to the famous temple in the area. It is surprising in some ways - the ten rupee entry fee, the cleanliness and organisation of the walls, the photograph collection. It boasts of some rare coins from Mughal times, South Indian rulers, and Rupee notes from 19th century. Nothing spectacular but interesting. It has... More
