I went there with my parents. The caves as in themselves is ok, nothing special apart from the cave where the 3 faces of Trimurti sculpture is carved. With nice lighting it was some sculpture to appreciate. There are a lot of shops with souveniers on the way up to the caves.. You can find a lot of cheap stuffs... More

The effort that would have been made to create these caves by our ancestors have not been properly acknowledged by State. The maintainance of the place is not good. But one must visit to understand that human endeavour can win over everything....even if its rocks, humans rock !!!

We enjoyed setting sail from the Gateway to India and the hour long ferry ride across the bay to the island. The walk up to the caves was hot! We were the first trip of the day and still it was hot. The caves are amazing and very interesting and the descent past all the stalls of the locals was... More

The island, caves and views were beautfiul, the island is home to hundreds of monkeys, goats and dogs. quite a trek up the steep steps to the top but well worth it.

The boat ride from Gate Way of India for an hour is charming. Better to start early as Caves remain open Tuesday to Sunday from 9.30 to 5.30 Pm. Few odds - u take tkt in boat @160 and then they as extra Rs.10/- per head to go to upper deck of the launch. Mini train is an attraction in... More

A very peaceful and slow journey to Elephanta caves and same return trip. This itself is enough for mumbai people to get relaxed. Adding to that is the green area with buddhist caves in the island is a must visit place. Had delicious fruits from the street sellers in the island... everything is WOW there......

The best part about getting to the Elephanta Caves is the cruise by ferry, Pay a few extra rupees (10) and sit on the upper deck. The Mumbai coastal panorama unfolds as you cruise out to the island and is a great way to get your bearings if you plan to stay a few days. We had spent most of... More
