Punarjani has a traditional bharatnatyam performance in which there is a mythological story telling through the danceform..the performance is ok..the singer was amazingly good..i couldnt understand what he sang but he was very good at what he sang...the show stealer is the kalaripayetu or martial art show where young brave boys enthrall you with their agility confidence and showmanship..they use... we went there and premium seat are worth 300rs. we took both shows and dalr fees of 100 rs. infrastucture wise it was not that good and shows are worth spending some time if you dnt know background of kathakali and martial arts. it will give you a idea. these chaps and working hard there to perform.

The stage set up was neither nice nor traditional for kathakali. For kalaripayattu the stage was more authentic. One can see the artist applying makeup for kathakali... That's a great oppurtunity. Kathakali performance I think was average- have seen better ones on TV. Kalaripayattu performances were better. Costumes were cheap material.... Can be better.

Kathakali: The Punarjani Traditional Village has regular performances on the traditional dance form Kathakali. One can spend a nice evening in Munnar watching it which explains each dance step with the mood it correlates with. You can choose to sit anywhere and the stage is such that it offers visibility from any seat. Rs. 200 is the ticket fee which... More

Visited Puranjari today. The Kathakali dance performance is good but the get up of stage and seating arrangement are most unprofessional. They are earning lot of money and must invest in a good quality auditorium to make an overall good impact. The martial art performance is not much to talk about. Except a few acts, most were very average and... More

I was directed to their Ayurvedic centre by my hotel saying it was the only one in Munnar. The rooms were unhygienic- I saw a cockroach crawling across the floor and they don't cover the massage bed for you to lie down. The massage was terrible and I'm sure the masseuse was unqualified. I had a shirodhara treatment as well... More

Our family wanted to see the age old tradition of Kathakali but it was quite short and a bit disappointing. The seats and theatre were also poor for the high price we were charged. However, the martial arts set was excellent! I have never seen anything like it. I just wish the fight would have gone on longer. Regardless it... More
