Saw a herd of elephants there in all lush green. Nice place. One can go speed boating in the backwater or just sit at the backwater bank and watch the beautiful view.

The water erupting from the dam is an awful site to watch. A little stroll will take you across the bridge built on the dam. You can also enjoy a speed boat ride for Rs. 600. Six people can share a ride.

Really wanted to climb on to a motor boat to savour the beauty of the waters surrounded by splendour of mountains and lushness of greenery. But the place was so crowded that it meant at least couple of hours to get the tickets for boating making me reluctantly drop the idea of boating lest I should be behind schedule in... More

The Mattupetty dam offers a beautiful view of the storage reservoir on the Periyar. One can walk the length of the dam from where both upstream and downstream sides are visible. A road goes around the lake to boating points. Check the boating itmings before visiting.Small roadside tea stalls are there for a hot cuppa while enjoying the view.
