Our Kerala trip started with lots of promise,it was like a second honeymoon to us. Mattupetty Dam was one of the biggest attraction in Munnar trip after all. Some family friends of ours who visited this place earlier, expressed very high opinion of this place, especially for the scenic beauty and the boating experience. The trip was assigned to us on... We started of for Kundala lake as we read that it is a better sight seeing place. We crossed this dam/lake and continued our journey to Kundala. We were not impressed so we returned back and stopped at Mettupetty Dam and walked in for view and boating. TTDC has setup counters for booking of boats of different type. We took... More

Dam is very close to Munnar. Boating is 'must' try here! we tried the speed boat, which gives a 20 min tour & was beautiful.

This place is very calm and serene and u feel like resting urself in the lap of mother earth. It is an undisturbed piece of nature where you can spend an evening either sitting by the lakeside or boating with ur loved ones. I witnessed a picturesque sight which couldn't be explained by mere words. Being an amateur photographer, the... More

Nice views of the lake formed due to dam! Can be given a miss as Kerala has much more to offer. Try the boiled peanuts seasoned with raw mango and some other spices sold around the dam. Popular maybe due to nice marketing but overall an average place.

It had nice surrounding and views but was too crowded and traffic jams. There are some shops around which offer local handicraft and wooden stuff. Lake/Dam near to shops not that clean and there should be proper maintenance, people throwing trash in water. Spend some time clicking nice shots, prefer going on a sunny day to have nice clear back... More

Even though it is among the most visited tourist destination in Munnar but we found it to be average at the best esp when we have been to dams like Bhakra Nangal. Place is crowded, traffic jams are common and the views are also average. There are better avenues around Munnar.
