Was there in early April 2013. We reached at midday and had to walk a good 2.5- km to reach the clean part where we had scrunchy salt underfoot in at least 3 directions, On the far left horizon appeared to be a body of water and a factory building at a distance of perhaps 8 KM. This it appears... More

The White rann of Kutch is one of the most marketed place in Gujarat Tourism ad but not much steps are taken to preserve it. You will observe this at Dhordo where it will soon become Rann of chappals and mud. Being a local, My advise is that you check the Rann from other unexplored sites and if possible Avoid... More

My first visit to Rann of Kutch and it was simply amazing. The best is to reach the place before Sunset so that you can make the best out of your visit. The sunset here is beautiful and so is a Full moon night. If possible try to visit Rann on a full moon night to enjoy the silver beauty... More

The White Desert or Great Rann is a pristine white expanse of salt. So white, it can get blinding if you look at its horizon! Visitors have to obtain a permit from the police checkpost at Bhirandiyara village to travel to any of the northern parts of Kutch including the Rann. The Rann be "seen" from various places within Kutch.... More

Not often does one get to sleep in a tent in the middle of a desert. If you find this experience enticing you can certainly give this festival a shot. Organized by Gujarat tourism the entire event is very well organized, the tents are very comfortable, the food is very good. The organizing team goes out of its way to... More

I had the privilege of experiencing this great white salt terrain on a full moon night during the recent Republic Day weekend, and all I can say is.....superlative! I was there during the Rann Utsav with my family and despite the cold, we ensured we took in the beauty and peace of this place under the full moon shine. A... More

We saw the Great Rann as part of the Rann Utsav. As Amitabh said, Kutch nahin dekha to kuch nahin dekha, the views of the white rann absolutely ran well with this statement as you had the chance to see the white desert, water and hills all alongside each other. The Rann Utsav on its own was well arranged and... More
