The Great Rann is a must see experience for the visitor to Kutch! There are several good places to see, but my favorite spot is on the bridge to Kadir island where the ancient ruins of Dholavira are located. The best times to visit are October to March, otherwise it is too hot or the monsoon rains ruin the view.

The destination where you are one with your thoughts with no one else as far as the eye can see. You can stay at one of the villages or bordering accommodations around the White Rann. You can walk for miles on the salt plains or just drive along if you have a four wheel drive. Consider going here early to... More

A unique experience in terms of sight, terrain and geography. Best time to visit is winters. Water receeds and better weather. Idealy club the trip with the famous Rann festival. Dhordo has good resorts with traditional style hut type comfortable accomodation. Tribal music and food is provided by these resorts. Prior permit must be taken at Bhuj to visit this... More

The breathtaking landscape of crystalline salt that glitters like celestial dust in the moonlight. This phenomenal nature wonder is the most appealing part of the Kutch Festival. We visited the Rann for the sunrise, and I would recommend it to anybody to go that time as you have the vast runn of Kutch to yourself. Early morning there are only... More

There are two ways you can enjoy Rann a) Like a normal tourist, you can obtain the permit from Bhirandiyara check-post, approx. 30 KMs before Rann as the checkpost is open everyday 10 am - 5 pm on the way to Rann. This will allow you to visit the salt desert which most people do but you cannot drive in... More

Before i start, imp note: Make sure to take the permit before 5 PM else you might lose the chance to view sunset or night view the same day. We did this mistake. Its really an amazing and serene experience to view the rann of kutch from highest view point in Kalo Dungar. Localites even say that one can view... More

Kala Dungar is the highest point in the Rann of Kutch, approached up a narrow, tortuous and quite roughly-surfaced road. On top of the hill is a temple dedicated to the 3-headed god, Dattratreya, an amalgam of Shiva, Vishnu and Rama. Here a Hindu saint lived, who retreated between services, and fed the wild foxes. When he had no food,... More

About 80kms north of Bhuj , Kutch is the Great Rann of Kutch. This beauty is now under many of travellers' list and is surely worth the visit. Most Enjoyable are the sunset , a full moon night visit to this unique place and a visit to witness the sunrise. The Rann looks different on all three visits. Viewing Salt... More
