Owner description: The property is unique to Roatan. Just off the main road to a private beach area. This area is part of the Roatan Marine Park preserve. The reef system parallels the white sand beach of Sandy Bay The closiest swim to a underwater ecologial paradise teaming with tropical fish and corals. This area is a quiet tranquil area of Roatan without high end hotels and condos but close to the tourist meccas.

If you are looking for the stereotypical lounging beach, this is not your best option. My family and I recently rented a house on Sandy Bay beach, and we were delighted with the snorkeling. The beach itself had a lot of trash, serves as a road, and has a great deal of foot traffic. The snorkeling: The reef is a... More

It is so quiet and peaceful here right now. Few tourists, boats and not too many insect issues. Snorkeling is good on both sides of the reef which is a decent swim even if you are starting at the end of a dock. If you are an inexperienced snorkeler, you would probably be more comfortable inside the reef. The beach... More

Small beach, great snorkeling, unfortunately it is also a road (albeit lightly used). Blue Bahia is great beach bar, do the pulled pork (only brick smoker on island).

At times we never saw another person on the beach. We were at Sundancer and noticed that the cruise people are now using the area in front of it for their snorkel trips which was not happy for us. Sometimes there were up to 9 snorkel boats. The beach is always in need of cleaning. The beach is so much... More

A beautiful offshore view greets you at this beach, but the sand tends to be muddy. Water is shallow so you can see many fish but you have to go a long way offshore to do any real snorkeling. Not much privacy, either. We prefer other beaches around the island.

We turned down the road where there was a kite surfing camp and found a public beach. WE were able to snokel out into a LOT of coral and it was very very beautiful and free. The reef was not far out to get to.

You have to swim a long way out to snorkel so should be very careful of boats and currents. It was too strong for us to get back so had to swim accross into the neighbouring bay just to get out of the sea. Sand flies mean you can't lie on the beach. Be careful even walking across it... I... More

The best snorkeling we have ever experienced. Beautiful corals with all types of fish and sea life. Great visibility. Try both sides of the reef for different experiences.
