The property is unique to Roatan. Just off the main road to a private beach area. This area is part of the Roatan Marine Park preserve. The reef system parallels the white sand beach of Sandy Bay The closiest swim to a underwater ecologial paradise teaming with tropical fish and corals. This area is a quiet tranquil area of Roatan without high end hotels and condos but close to the tourist meccas.

I have a house on Sandy Bay beach so I may be partial. Sandy Bay is a fairly long stretch of a few miles. So you have to know where people are staying to make any judgements. My stretch is from my house Casa Cowee on the east end of it and it goes by some stunning properties, Blue Bahia... More

I have visiting the more popular beaches on Roatan, but I choose Sandy Bay Beach for my holiday rental. I needed quiet getaway to unwind and relax. I chose well. The beach is clean, the people are few, and the reef is within a short swim from shore. It is all I needed and wanted.

It was not all pristine and perfect, but lovely and natural. Some areas seemed a little yucky, but we kept walking and came to a lovely place.

The sand fleas were much better than our previous trips I guess we picked a good time of year to visit. The sand is white, and the beach is not crowded, which we love,

The other reviews are correct that there is a seaweed problem with this beach. There is a also trash particularly on the east end. The beach is not very good if you want to lie out in the sun. The access to the reef is pretty good and the snorkling out there is excellent.

As your reading down the list and spot all the horrible reviews, yes there is a seaweed problem. We had rented a house on Sandy Bay for 5 weeks and only stayed for 2. The beach had about 20 feet of smelly seaweed full of fleas and garbage so you could not go into the water.. Also you had to climb over streams on wood etc to get along the beach. The best place was the Marina dock... More

While on Roatan...you should avoid Sandy Bay Beach, since it has limited access to the reef system and is generally more "buggy" Best beach is West Bay (Tabiyana)....

5 min walk from hotel. There were several good snorkel areas. And several good spots to get a meal and a delish Tropical drink. Fair to good for sandy beach fun...But the beach is also the roadway to homes and small resorts...So beware of vehicles, 4 wheelers and scooters! Unfortunately we were there during a few storms, beaches covered in... More
