It was just Ok. Nice bus trip. I would not pay a taxi to go there. I ate at the local restaurant... Cuba libre. That was good. I enjoyed it but if you miss it .. No worries

The monastery is just over the border with Albania on the shore of Lake Ohrid. The grounds are beautifully kept with peacocks strolling around. Saint Naum is a popular Macedonian saint. Visit the small church and avoid all the souvenir shops that all sell the same stuff. You can do a boat trip around the lake from here, but we... More

And naturally, we visited this splendid complex of the Eastern Orthodox churches that make the Monastery of Saint Naum. It is located to the south from Ohrid Town or in the southeast part of the Ohrid Lake. We may say it is a little secluded from the rest part of the long shore of lake, with its very renown touristic... More

We visited the weekend Saint Naoum Monastery. It is situated only 29 klm fron Ohrid town. The surroundings are great, with lakes, bridges, beach, peacocks, plants, great gardens. There are a lot of touristic shops and a very nice skara tavern to eat and drink beer. In the monastery there is the tomb of Saint Naoum and they say if... More

If you are in the Ohrid region, you have to see St Naum Monastery. The monastery itself is very, very beautiful, plus, the view it offers is simply breathtaking.

Ignore the long row of cabins lining the route to the actual monastery - they all sell the same stuff. The harbour had several boats moored so we expected a crowd in the monastery. To our surprise there was hardly anyone there. The gardens are nicely kept with exotic peacocks strutting around. The church itself is tiny but has a... More

Very busy, on what I imagine might have been a relatively quiet day. A lot of money has been spent here, there is a restaurant cafe (where euros can be changed into dinars quite easily), and a row of cabins all selling identical tourist trash. The church itself is charming, but this is not really a place for spiritual refreshment

When I first visited in early 2013 it was a peaceful location. However, it has now become over commercialised with a lot of trader's cabins along the route in. The boat trip around the monastery is worth doing. The grounds around the monastery are also worth a visit.

Getting in, you don't feel like to be in a monastery. Along the walk to the monastery there are a lot of swimming and eating places. Even walking up the monastery it doesn't feel like being in a religious place. There is plenty of peacocks, not 1,2 or 3 like we read. It would be good if you combine the... More

We were staying in Ohrid and took the boat to Sveti Naum. It'been three years since we last visited and were suprised how it had been turned into a tourist attraction. The Monestry etc were the same but the grounds had been tidied up and restaurants and tourist stalls added, which somewhat spoilt the area.It was however an enjoyable occasion... More
