St. Naum Monastery is beautiful by itself, but what is amazing is the positioning on the borders of lake Ohrid and the small lakes that communicate with lake Prespa. The experienced guide Nikola is waiting outside the restaurant by the wooden bridge to take you on a 30 min ride with his boat and will explain to you all about... More

Going to the monastery of Saint Naum is definitely worth a visit. It is located only 30 km from Ohrid and the drive there is beautiful. I went by taxi as it is off season in April and the busses don't depart as often. The taxidriver was very friendly and like a personal tour guide telling me stories about everything... More

Out of all monestries in the Balkins, St. Naum and Studenica are the ones most worth visiting, especially when you are in Ohrid. Facing lake Ohrid, the monestry is nicely preserved, and quiet, there are also a beach close by to enjoy your time there. A river that sources the lake with fresh water provides yet another great contrasting scenary.... More

The easiest way to get there is by ship. Ships are departing from Ohrid city. You'll spend one full day on the trip. (only 2x2.5 hours on transportation)

The Monastery is situated 30 km from Ohrid town. The drive along Ohrid lake was pleasant. We made a photo stop at the Bone museum before visiting the Monastery. It was a weekday afternoon, the Monastery was very quiet. We had the whole place to ourselves. Views of the lake and snow capped mountains were breathtaking. The flowing spring, the... More

Near the monastery St. Naum is the entrance to the National Park Galičica . Here is the source of the river Black Drim. Unforgettable atmosphere and beautiful scenery. In restaurant "Ostrovo" (Island) you can especially enjoy in Macedonian traditional food. During the spring and summer whole island becomes a garden-restaurant. Boat cruise above the springs of Black Drim River

It is a wonderful setting, but the market has arrived big time. But I guess that is the fate of all wonderful places when news gets out. Worth a visit, the restaurants on the lake are superb.
