Lots of churches in Ohrid, and this should be in your top three to target, along with St. Sophia and, more debatable, Plasonik (more for the remains of the early basilica than the modern reconstructed church) You enter with a somewhat steep walk to the city walls, and in through the gate. The cruciform building gives you a really nice... More

Very nice complex with rich historic value. Its a must visit place if you are in Ohrid. They have the floors and some stones of the original church.

St. Kiment Church is one of the places in Ohrid that you HAVE to visit. Since it is usually crowded with tourists, my recommendation is to visit it on sunset when they have afternoon mass. The singing inside of the church is complimenting the holiness of the place, and it will give you great spiritual fulfillment. On the outside you... More

Nice boat trip, beautiful scenery, we had an amazing guide and he really made the visit something special. Interesting church on a beautiful location, peacocks live free inside the monastery - part of it has been transformed in a hotel.

Well, this was one of the highlights on our Balkans tour. High above Ohrid town, with a brilliant view of town and lake Ohrid, this church must be one of the most beautiful ones in south eastern Europe.

If you walk up to the fortress from the Church of St. John, you will pass by the construction for the new University, and come to the Church of St. Clement (Kliment). It has been under renovation for the last couple of years but is almost finished. Unfortunately the renovation work kept us out of the interior, but it promises... More

Went there with a local guide (Dutch speaking since half Macedonian and half Dutch , his name is Christian and he is the most wonderful guide a one can have as a Dutch speaking visitor). The place is a reconstruction of what it used to be, but the site around it is actually being reconstructed and promises to get more... More

On the extended route from Samuel's Fortress, this is one beautiful church, set on a rocky outcrop with swallows flying everywhere. Restoration of the nearby basilica is still in progress. If you have little time and have to choose between the fortress and this, choose this to see.

This is the old church opposite the icon gallery and close to the upper gate. It is a steep walk up to this part of town so anyone with mobility issues should invest in a taxi to drop them here. The church is undergoing restoration courtesy of a grant so scaffolding masks some of the outside. The frescoes are late... More

There is the old and the new church of Sant Clement. The old one, (in front of the icon gallery) nowadays called Perivlepta is in our opinion the best church we saw in Macedonia. It has fantastic frescos from profane books and a lady with a PhD in art to explain you each fresco. We don´t know to which of... More
