One of the earliest christian temples, with lot of culture growing one on top of another. Perl of history till the moment of modern megalomanic domination of 21 century, where this beautiful church got surrounded with new born concrete city. That's the modern wave, shiny wrap with an empty content.

Saint Pantelejmon was built on very impressive place. More of two thousand years people are living there. In this moment archeologists are exploring all around. It is possible to see more buried buildings which are older then monastery. If you planning to visit this place than wait and come for two years. Conservation works will be finish then.

The church is itself is nice but not as interesting as some of the other churches nearby. There are the remains and icon of St Clement of Ohrid, who might grant you wisdom if you pray for it. Near de church are the ruins of an early Christian basilica with beautiful mosaics of birds and other animals. We walked right... More

Ohrid has 360 churches all around the city of 50,000. In ancient times, they had build many churches throughout many decades to show their devotion to Orthodox Christianity. I'm not a Christian but I was certainly impressed by the dedication of the people of this ancient city. People are very friendly, English is widely spoken (don't be arrogant though like... More

Work in progress to find more of the demolished church (by the Ottoman turks). It was left in disrepair for the longest time, but the efforts to rekindle is glorious past is very prominent. Enjoy

Awesome place to go, I think this is my favorite religious site that I have visited during my two years in Europe.

It's a very basic Orthodox Church. Not very interesting on the inside: few decorations and only some incons and that is it. The outside is a bit overshadowed by all the construction that is going on, I really hope it will become something nice! The view is okay, but it's better at other places. I would recommend visiting other churches,... More

Neatly rebuilt and restored, this church has become one f the symbols of Ohrid. Situated on Plaoshnik hill, it is surrounded by archaeological excavations and new buildings are being constructed around - they should serve the local university, but I am not sure about the look of the whole site then. There was a tickets office at the entrance to... More

At the moment this church is surrounded by excavation and construction, which really takes you out of the moment when viewing the church. Down the hill, St Johns is a far better visit.
