This is the best spot in Ohrid. It's free to see the church from the outside, as walk around the church grounds, and that is the best thing to do. The church sits upon a cliff that looks over the lake on all sides. It's a remarkable view of the lake. The best spot in Macedonia without a doubt.

If you have time for just one place to visit in Ohrid, I think this should be your choice. The small church is standing on a cliff, and you can view the whole lake from there. I would recommend going there off season before sunset or in the morning.

I liked this place much more than any other in Ohrid. Amazing view, beautiful roses, trees with yellow and orange leaves in November, pink sunset and so on. Very calm and energetic place, also very friendly - the door to the territory is always open. At 6 a.m I found also 3 tourists sleeping on the grass there. but it's... More

If you can imagine a place that you can calm your soul, a place where a man so wonderfully united the beauty of nature and faith dedicated a beautiful little church, a place where your eyes reach only beauty- then you must not miss the opportunity to spend 1,2,3 ... hours in St.John Kaneo!

We continued our exploration of the Ohrid Town another day, after the viewing of the St. Sophia Church. In same direction, we proceeded along the Ohrid bay and before long, we reached one distinctive foreland, from which we have had an overwhelming view of the Ohrid Lake. That was really amazing sight, since it was real nice sunshine bright day.... More

On our first day in Ohrid we walked along the main street and found ourselves on a lovely lakeside path which took us on a boardwalk over the water under a cliff face and then led us gradually uphill. As we rounded a bend we had a breathtaking view of this church, down below us, with the blue lake beyond... More

This little church on the hillside overlooking Lake Ohrid is truly magical and well worth the visit to Ohrid. Our guesthouse was only a 5 minute walk from the church and I would estimate from city center its only a 20 minute walk or so. When we went there were very few tourists and we pretty much had the place... More

We walked from the harbour to St. Jovan via the beach route and back over the mountain side. Great walk for which the church forms the bonus. It is small, but very pretty and the view is fantastic.
