If you have free time you can visit it, but dont miss the othwr things such as St Naum, Water museum or churches in Ohrid for this. People say that the view is great but you can find better view from the other places in Ohrid.

Take a taxi up and save your energy for exploring the fortress and walking down. Amazing views of the city and lake.

We visited the fortress with a local guide - this is the best way to understand more about the town and the fortress. Otherwise looking at the stones themselves, does not tell you much. You can hire a guide at the parking place near the fortress - ask for Veska - a very good and well educated guide! THANK YOU!

There is nothing special inside the fortress but it is surely worth to visit. If you finally get it and climb up the wall you will see so nice views of lake, all Ohrid city and surroundings.

It is not something special if you have visited a lot of castle, bue the view is wonderful. The walls of the castle are tall so you can see Ohrid panoramically. 30 dn to go inside, not a lot of money!

Not even a little interesting fortress. I think it is not properly reconstructed. walk from the lake to the castle is interesting. ticket for the enter was cheap. I would recommend a visit if you have more free time but especially because a nature during a walk.

The fortress itself is not that interesting as it really is just a shell of the building. But, the views across Ohrid make it worthwhile. Note that the walls on the side behind the ticket office are not in as good condition as those on the other side. If you are unsteady on your feet, you may not want to... More

Go and spend a few minutes walking around. The views are great and well worth climbing a few steps. The lake looks great from up above and you get a good overview of the town.

Definitely worth a visit if in Ohrid. It's quite a hike up to the top (you can get a taxi most of the way if necessary), and quite a few (big) steps up to the top of the walls, but the reward is a great view of the city and lake of Ohrid. Small entrance fee (50 denar?). Once you're... More

We went for a long walk in and around this fortress steeped in history. Amazing views of the lake from the fortress.
