Siwa not the easiest to get to and does not provide a lots of services, but what it lacks in modern makes up for in down to earth charm. The people are friendly and unique as most are Bedouin descent. Highlight was actually camping overnight next to one of the thermal springs not far from Lake Siwa.

When we arrived at Siwa our hotel provided us a guide who took us out to the lake for sundown. It was spectacular. There was a swimming hole nearby, and the view was just stunning. Take a meal along with you and watch the sunset. There are also vendors in reed kiosks selling drinks and snacks.

It is a big shallow salt lake in the desert, featureless and filled with voracious mosquitoes. Skip it.
