One of the areas with tombs that has preserved its colors. There are 4 tombs and they are very small, so you can enjoy the visit and save time

The structure of the place is interesting and the view from the hill is beautiful. But ,the tombs themselves are ,compared with the catacombs for example are very modest. They are always closed ,so you have to ask the guards to open them for you

Mountain of the Dead is very cool, lots and lots of tombs and a few with the most amazing paintings still fully intact. The colors and detail are wonderful. We were the only guest that day so each tomb had to be opened for us and we were allowed just to stand there and take in these delicate treasures. Best... More

Actually the name of the place is Mountain of the Dead or in Arabic "Gebel el Mawta" It's have around 1 or 2 tombs open the best one is called "C Amun" It's colored from inside and very nice. The view from the top is awesome where you can see the desert and springs also the oracle temple.

There are only two tombs open to visitors - on one you can clearly see the Graeco-Roman features of the deceased! Climb to the top of the mountain for great views of the oasis, particularly at sunset.

The Roman tombs gave us a real sense of the life the Romans led in Siwa. You can see how they adapted Egyptian motifs to Roman customs and vice-versa. People in Egypt live with their history constantly, and these tombs give some insight into one stage of that history. And, there are great views from the mountain.
