Recent discoveries of 10,000 mummies in a field outside of town have the place on the map. Half a dozen are on display. They date from the Greco-Roman period. Very interesting.

This site and the cemetary the mummies came from can be had for one price. If you do not speak Arabic, it may be good to get a Bedoin guide as these sites are not easy to locate and you will get more details about what you are viewing
