This older Oasis is the first one you see when you enter the desert from Cairo, most people pass through after one day, but it has lots to see . Gold Museum, walking tour, English mountain, hot springs.

Bahariyya Oasis beats Siwa by yards and miles. It's located near the Black and White Deserts which have odd natural features. It took some doing and you will most likely wish to have the assistance of a local Bedouin guide, but there are may sites in and around the oasis including some spectacular scenery in the white desert reminiscent of Monument Valley in the SW US. The former tomb of Alexander the great was also an interesting visit.
