Its well worth the climb but take heed of the sign saying climb at your own risk. If you are elderly or infirm stay on the ground as its a real squeeze at the top and doesn't feel too safe either...Maybe the locals could spend a bit of money making it feel more solid..?

You have to climb up to this monumental bell tower. The view is amazing.Beware of very steep steps for the last 20 meters.

We paid the approx. $4 Canadian to walk up the bell tower which had lovely views over Split. It was a fairly steep walk up and down so not recommended for anyone who has issues with stairs but it isn't a long walk.

Really amazing panoramic view from up here. I was certainly suspicious of the somewhat rusty metal steps that seem to flex underfoot in a non-comforting fashion! Having said that, I saw young kids bounding fearlessly up the stairs, so perhaps I'm just a wuss. Definitely worth the trip up.

The bell tower is a beautiful structure. As you look at it there are three distinct tiers to it. Each tier has a different look to it. Our tour guide told us that this was because of the long time it took to complete the tower. There were alternating periods of war and then peace. During times of peace, work... More

All these photos show the tower (and the views from its top) next to St. Lawrence church, which used to be a cathedral, so people continue to refer to it as the cathedral. The diocese was abolished in the 19th century when the parish of Trogir was annexed to the Split diocese. St. Michael's bell tower is further west on... More

25HRK represented great value, but Health and Safety is non-existant and caution the last few steps, which are narrow and steep. Great views over the central square, the terracotta rooftops and across the sea - you can see for miles!

If you're up for climbing a lot of stairs and are not claustrophobic, be sure to walk to the top of the bell tower for spectacular views. The part of the climb is very narrow, totally enclosed rock staircase with room for only one person going up or down. This opens on a roof area where you can take pictures... More

A little bit of a tricky hike but worth the view. Split and the surrounding area is a great site. There is a fee but it is worth the money.

Really worth climbing to the top of the tower for the fantastic views over Trogir and the Adriatic despite the very steep and basic last set of steps.
