The upper falls are at the north end of the park near entrance #1. These were spectacular as they have one of the best aerial views of the falls, the largest falls and several cascades. I think these are best to visit first as the upper falls were even more gorgeous (so build up to the best).

The water here is so clear. The deep blue with large fish and crystal clear water is so beautiful. Make sure you have large enough SD cards for your camera and spare batteries.

Most pictures you see of the Plitvice National Parks are from the lower lakes. They are absolutely spectacular. There's a walkway that goes through them all giving you a great view from all angles. Truly incredible.

Everything you've read and all you've seen about the Plitvice Lakes is true. They are breathtakingly beautiful. The NAtional Park itself is rammed with tourist crowds though (& rightly so as this is one of the top destinations to visit in the entire country). As such, we waited an hour in the heat just to get to the ticket office.... More

You can't leave Croatia without this visit. Hundreds of fish in a torqueise water, moving at the same time.

I was amazed at how clear the water was in the lakes - it's crystal clear. This is an absolutely beautiful place to stroll round enjoying the gorgeous lakes and stunning scenery

The colors of the water are very intense. The calcification of the trees that have fallen in the water are very interesting to see.

I found this to be the better part of our walk around the National Park, due to the turquoise clarity of the waters and the variety of the flora/fauna we saw here. It was also easier to navigate for me as I had a busted knee at the time! Both lakes, upper and lower are still very beautiful, however, if... More

While the lower lakes don't have the density of falls and cascades of the mid-lake area, it is often less crowded. Start here early before the bus-hordes arrive.

Probably the best combination of lakes and waterfalls we have ever seen. There are several routes and we took the eight kilometre trip which included a boat ride and a train back to the carpark. Highly recommended!
