We joined a private tour to Plitvice Lake from Split with Porta, a very reliable tour company. The reason for private is because we need a drop off to Trogir. The driver and guide was very prompt in picking us up at the hotel. The drive to the park is shortened by 30 min as private tour. If you pay... More

This is a fantastic aggregate of lakes and waterfalls in a forest setting. Because of time constraints we chose only a portion of this awesome natural spectacle. You should really allocate about 4 hours to experience the park. Be sure to keep a camera handy and take good walking shoes.

Hiking the lower lakes here in Platvice is such a great experience. You hike along forested paths and even out on then lake with very cool wooden paths laid out on the water. You hike by waterfalls so close that you feel the mist on your face!

The Plitvice Lakes is amazing tourist attractions, a verdant valley of 16 lakes strung together with waterfalls and tumbling rivers with miles of elevated wooden walkways. Stay one or two nights and spend the day hiking. :)

The visitor may cross by boat one the lakes and keep walking on the wooden pathways on the other side of the lake. On this site the pathway is almost on the same level of the water in some parts although wooden steps take the visitor to various levels of lakes.

We parked at Entrance 1 and proceeded to the lakes. Part way along the path we discovered that all the ways down to the lower lakes were closed. We had planned on taking one of the suggested walks, but could't as parts were closed. There were no signs or information advising us of this. Had we of known we would... More

A break in the weather of a very rainy summer allowed us to sneak in a visit between the days of steady downpours. All that rain provided amazing waterfalls to see and hear. Some trails were "closed" due to excessive rainfall, but the hardy waded barefoot and the better-prepared wore water shoes to slosh though. Very fun! Frequent shuttle buses... More

The lakes are nice and the waterfalls are nice. the colour is really nice of the water. And the fish in the water can clearly be seen and make it interesting. I had heard how spectacular plitvice was that I was a bit disappointed due to my very high expectations. On a world scale it does not rate in my... More
