Although heavily toured, obviously, this set of turquise lakes and hundreds of small water falls is a MUST SEE, by any standard. In good weather, the color reminds you of Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies, but there the similarity stops. You walk on narrow trails along the various lakes, partly over the water and greenery, and partly along it.... More

We stayed at the hotel in the National Forest which was simple, clean and very appropriate for the setting. Rooms were clean and food was good. The hike through the lakes and mountains was an experience not to miss if possible. It was a good break from the cities of Dubrovnik and Split.

Beautiful! Clear blue lakes with walkways for visitors, a boat trip across the largest lake and buses to take you back to the start if you are too tired to walk! And all fro 110 Kuna ( thats about £13!!) Take food with you unless you like burgers or sandwiches. A great day out - you need the whole day!

A wonderful place. I recommend you to use a couple of days walking around the beautiful lakes and watterfalls and take the boat over to the island their. Shower in the fall along the walking path and just enjoy the magnificent nature there <3

My husband and I traveled to Croatia in May and were thrilled with Plitvice National Park. We have been to many similar parks in the U.S. but few can compare with this incredible park in Croatia! It is a great park for walking--a perfect three or four hour trek around the lakes. The many waterfalls rank from amazing to simply... More

Spent two half days walking the lakes - sensational! Amazingly clear water - beautiful waterfalls and trees and greenery - just so much beautiful scenery. Heaps of people though - so strong recommendation is that if you go in July - get there by 8.00 and have an hour or two without the crowds. The boardwalks and tracks winding in... More

When you arrive at the visitors' center, take the tram up to the upper lakes, then take the trail back down in and around the lakes. The largest crowds will be at the big waterfall and lower lakes. The upper lakes trail will be much less crowded and more enjoyable. Then, later in the day hopefully the lower lakes will... More

Plitvice national park is an interesting scenic attraction in Croatia. The clear, emerald water cascades down multiple tiers of waterfall, resembling an inverted champagne bottle. Walking around the park is a breeze. You walk across wooden planks across the park--no uneven surfaces, no steep hills to climb & you inhale fresh air all the while. Fantastic! Try to stay overnight... More
