Well worth the climb, as others have said: why go to Hvar only to miss the view? The path to the top is shaded by trees and there's a cafe within the fortress to get refreshments. The hardest part of the climb is the few medieval stairs through the town. The very small entrance price was totally reasonable considering the... More

Amazing views through the pine trees to Hvar town beneath the fort and the climb is pretty easy. It may have just been the day we visited, however the gift shop was closed and the bar/restaurant was being prepared for a private function that evening so we missed both of those. Would have been good to know before paying to... More

As others have said the view from the top is incredible. People have said it's a bit of a trek but it's only a 10 minute walk up a gentle slope from the town so well worth it. The best view is from on-top of the wall in the fortress itself, so pay the 30Kuna, go in and have a... More

Why visit Hvar and miss the fortress? Well worth the effort and the climb is not as difficult as it might look. Even better is the bar at the top!

We were in September (end) and the weather was excellent for walking. The question was not if to go, but how to go. We didn't find the stairs from the main square but recognised them when we returned: as you stay with the sea behind you, looking towards the church / the market / the bus station, on your left there... Wonderful views, particlarly as we were there in time for the sunset. After negotiating the steep steps through the village the winding path up to the fortress was really very easy to manage.

Fantastic views over hvar and the islands. Definitely worth the hike. Take your time and take im the beauty while walking up the hill. Entrance fee worth it. We didn't eat or drink there but a good looking facility. Honestly go if in hvar you wont be disappointed.

A bit of a hike and suggest you do it early morning due to the heat. Was very interesting the timeline started in the 1200's and can truly appreciate how hard it must have been back then. The history alone is what makes this an excellent part of your trip

It was 15 kuna to get in, but the views at the top were breathtakingly gorgeous! There was a bar at the top too to sit and enjoy the views with a drink, which were needed after the walk up.

The path to the fortress is quite long, and jig-jags up a very steep hill to the top. There;s really not that much to see up there, but it is worth it for the view.
