Description:

Lijiang Guides is the region's leading eco-tourism and cultural-tourism...

Lijiang Guides is the region's leading eco-tourism and cultural-tourism operation, specialising in taking visitors to non-touristy places. We can help you explore Yunnan's diversity, its 26 different minorities, and the wonders of nature - mountains, lakes, glaciers, forests and blue skies. With experience in the area since 1996, we will take you away from the tourists to the REAL China, where you can experience the place and its people. With knowledgeable guides, who speak English and local languages, you can visit villages, markets, monasteries, mountains, farms, and grasslands. We visit families, enjoy the company of locals and share meals with Naxi, Yi and Tibetan families. Plus, if you like dogs, we have Lassie the guide dog to accompany you. Lijiang Guides offers native-English speaking guides as well as local Tibetan, Lisu, Yi and Naxi guides who speak English. Welcome to south-west China.

All throughout the old city, a plethora of outlets are selling all kinds of tours. I opted for the horse riding day trip as it appeared that you were going to visit the country side and that was the way it was portrayed. Yes, we did visit a small village, albeit a touristy one and the horse ride turned out... More

We are a family of 4 and spent 3 days in Lijiang. Our guide for two of the days was Apple. She is one of the best guides we have had, anywhere in the world - pleasant, knowledgeable, chatty, energetic - a total pleasure to be with. Our days in Lijiang were the highlight of our China trip. Hiking in... More

We had 2 days with Apple. Words are not enough to describe our impression of her in all aspects from a tourist's point of view. She has an excellent English, very good diction, she is clever and highly skilled as a guide and as a person, we had opportunities to chat almost about everything and had fun. We cannot praise... We spent a two days tour in Lijiang surroundings with our guide Pema. The tour was well organized in each detail, very interesting and amazing. Pema knows a perfect english, experienced and professional, together we saw Tiger Leaping Gorge, Shaxi village and a beautiful tibethan monastery near Lijiang. It was a great and unforgettable experience with her!

Keith Lyon's Tour Service was excellent! Sophie was wonderful guide with an excellent knowledge of the area. We enjoyed seeing the local life and how the people lived. Because of Sophie's personnality and connections, we were able to visit the homes of members from two different culltures. Our family did a trip with Lijiang Guides in early 2015, and as an expat family living in Asia, it was among the best adventures we have been on during our 8 years in this part of the world. Good clear communication and planning, personal friendly touch and understanding our needs meant we had an enjoyable time around LIjiang.

We were lucky to come across Lijiang Guides for our first trip to southwest China and we were impressed by the quality service, great communications, and personal touch, plus the fact they saved us quite a lot of money on flights and hotels. Keith is the expert on Lijiang and surrounds, and his team of local guides are equally good... More

Having had several quotes from tour companies both in the U.K. and China which, to my mind, were very expensive and did not offer the tour that we wanted, I found Lijiang guides on Trip Advisor. Having read the reviews, I contacted Keith who put together just the sort tour we were looking for at a much cheaper price. He... More

My husband and I spent 2 very enjoyable days in Lijiang in January 2015, courtesy of Pema, a local Naxi guide from Lijiang Guides. We were lucky enough to find this company on TripAdvisor and, as owner Keith was out of town when we were in Lijiang, he put us in touch with his colleague, Pema. We couldn't have been... More

We had never been to China before and had very little knowledge about Lijiang and the Yunnan Province before travelling to the area. We were looking for something different and this is exactly what we got. After a few communication difficulties hindering the planning process we finally met our guide Pema at our accommodation. She quickly put together an itinerary... More
