We visited Mt. Emei in September 2008. Of note, our visit was part of a tour through a scientific conference my father was attending down below in Emei Town (Emeishan) at the Hong Zhu Shan Hotel (see my review for more details). Mt. Emei is an excellent place for weekend trip. It's 2 hours' drive from Chengdu, the provincial capital of Sichuan, China. The bus service is cheap and good. My mother and I have just returned from a short trip to Chengdu and Mt Emei. Chengdu is lovely city and it's very modern.
