Summary: I just returned from a trip to JZG/HL last week. This article would be useful for DIY travelers who: - Want an update on JZG/HL since the “Background” article was written (in 2006) - Are travelling with older folks (I went with my mum and 3 relatives all aged 60-65) - Are planning a rush trip to JZG-HL (minimum... more

Well-serviced by environmental friendly buses. You purchase admission tickets and bus tickets before entering the park. Upon entering the park, you queue at bus-stop for the next bus to bring you into the park. The bus will drop you at the Nuorilang tourist centre car park. You pass through a small tunnel as instructed by bus driver to reach a... more

This is a summary of a trip to Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong in October 2008, probably two of the most beautiful natural areas in China . The parks are located in Sichuan province, and are amazingly scenic. It’s accessible to non-Mandarin speakers, with a little difficulty. Still, you don’t need to pay the absolutely ridiculous prices the tour operators charge. There’s... more

I went in late March and it was snowing on the top of the mountain but full of lush greenery further down. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes nature. The minus points... more

This info is based on a trip to Chengdu/Jiuzhaigou in August 2006. The good news for westerners is you don't need to buy a packaged tour to Jiuzhaigou and probably should avoid it as you can much more efficiently use your time on your own. Tours use large tour buses and operate on slow schedules. The tourism infrastructure now is... more

The nature park of Jiuzhaigou itself is made up of many different scenic spots – from rapids and waterfalls to still turquoise lakes, all set off by rocky, towering gorges and pine-covered hills. Once you’re there, you begin to understand why mountains and seas feature so prominently in Chinese art – even Zhang Yimou’s swordplay film "Hero" was shot there.... more

Jiuzhaigou-a world heritage site near chengdu-CHINA is a very beautiful site with colourful(blue, green.crystal clear) ponds and lakes. The scenery is exceptional beautiful but beware of the facilities provide by the government run hotel. For the general and budget traveller(not applicable to privately run 5 stars hotel) Road surface along the way is very rough and extremely uncomfortable. The food provide is... more
