We had a little bit of time to spare so we popped into the science center. My husband was wary but I had read there was a kids only zone and thought it might be a fun air conditioned place for my toddler to get some wiggles out before dinner. He kept complaining that we were going to a "$30... More

We loved the baby dinosaur fossils, and giant sea turtle bones. We didn't hear "This is boring." or "Can we go yet?" once the whole time from any of our 3 kids, the entire day. There are several floors, plan to spend most of the day here.

We only made it through the first floor of exhibits but it was well worth the trip, especially if you're a science lover!!!! It will bring out the kid in you!

I recently chaperoned my kindergarten aged granddaughter on her field trip to the McWane Center. What an adventure! It was interesting, interactive and educational. My observation was that there were plenty of exhibits and activities to entertain children of all ages for many hours, if not a full day. Our group was there a little over 4 hours and never... More

Mcwane has great things that can keep kids of all ages entertained for a few hours. And if you plan it just right, you can visit the science side first and then pay for a movie. They have one of those great dome IMAX theaters. Awesome to catch something like transformers there. lol.

So much to do for kids of all ages! This science center has something for the whole family. Plan to spend at least 3 hours. There's even a restaurant inside so you can refuel without leaving the fun.

This place was recommended to us by the head engineer at Embassy Suites. (along with several other places) My adult daughter and I had a great time enjoying the hands on exhibits and it was nice to see kids enjoying themselves in this downtown Birmingham Science Center

This place is AWESOME!! For young to old kids at heart!! I love that they have created an area for the younger kids away from the older ones. There is just not enough to time to see everything ( or play with) in one day!!! It is surly to keep everyone in the family entertained!

Dinosaur bones, science related games and adventures, Imax theatre inside as well. My five year old nephew loved it and still asks to go back! Only gripe is he wanted a stuffed dinosaur but the gift shop did not carry any. Strange for such a large dinosaur bone and skeleton collection there in the museum. You can identify lots of... More
