We loved this little tour, the staff were so friendly and helpful. We joined up with a girls school bus tour and their teachers. The tour is free of charge and very informative. The tour only goes for about an hour, we really enjoyed the taste testing which you will not believe the flavour. So good.

We planned in advance for the tour, which is recommended. You may not go on a tour if you are wearing any jewelry other than wedding sets, shorts above the knee, or open-toed shoes. I would also discourage anyone with toddlers/tiny babies as it is loud and has open machinery running while you are on the tour. They only allow... More

As a long time resident of Alabama, visiting this plant is like a blast from the past. This plant was built in the '70s and it still looks it. My Dad used to watch the Bear Bryant and Shug Jordan shows on Sunday afternoons where bags of Golden Flake potato chips were prominently displayed and consumed. Personally, I've eaten more... More

We reserved a time to go on the tour, and it was a quick hour tour as soon as we got into Birmingham. Make sure you wear pants/shorts to your knees, covered shoes and no spaghetti strap shirts (for your safety as you go through the plant). It was hard to hear the guide in the plant with the machines... More

Came to take the tour. Make sure to call or emails a week or so ahead. This place is busy all the time. All free and you go home with 3 bags each. Yum. Hot chips right off the belt during the tour. All must wear hairnets and beardnets too. No hanging jewelry either. No cameras or pics on the... More

Our grandson was off for spring break so we headed to Birmingham for the day. We had a nice time going through the plant, seeing how the chips were made, learning some facts and getting a few free bags of chips on the way out. We all had a good time.

Years later, my kids still talk about this tour! They found it fascinating and fun! We always buy Golden Flake at the store because we've seen the process and have good memories of being welcomed by the friendly staff. ** the visit was an effective marketing strategy! Creating very loyal G.F. eaters!!

Now I know how some of my favorite snacks are created. This was a great opportunity to tag along on a school visit. Learned a lot about the quality that goes into a great potato chip. This put things into a new light to see first hand the process that goes in creating the snacks that I grew up eating.

We had planned to do a tour and drove to Birmingham to the plant. Then the guard tells us they closed down the tours because the Board of Directors were visiting. That doesn't seem like "Customer Satisfaction" to me! If you plan to visit, call ahead.

I had never been to a chip tour before, once you are checked in at the guard shack, you have to wait in your car for them to come and get you. The 930am tour is the less crowded one. On the sheet the guard gives you will have the rules on same. Nice movie then the walking tour. Was... More
