I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did, but it's probably because the aspect of tourist sites that most influences my happiness is food, and by god there's a lot of it - for cheap. Fruit, ice pops (8-12¥), and coconut milk (5¥) were some of my favorites. We also picked up some interesting wares, like a... More

We spent 2 hours there, from 7.30-9.30pm. The street was vibrant with a carnival feel to it: vendors peddling cheap wooden toys to kids, people dressed as life-size cartoon characters for photo taking, a magic stall with a grumpy old magician, an old woman selling local fruits in a fruit basket, lots of street food and of course souvenir vendors... For cheap souvenirs and overpriced snacks, this is the place. You can rub shoulders with other sweaty tourists, see more westerners than anywhere (that's why you came to China, right?) and observe the local culture, not.

Avoid it by night! You might get lost or robbed, and most buyers are trying to sell things in higher prices.

Reportedly this town has 12M visitors per year, this means that you are not going to have a quiet, gentle experience. Having said that, you can spend time here with an interesting outcome. There are many rather tawdry souvenir shops which can be a little off putting. However, in amongst them are a few little jewels. Also, there are some... More

Very nice street to walk up and down if you look for souvenirs. On the sideways you find foreign restaurants like German serving "Bratwurst" or Italian pizza of course!

West Street is the main tourist street in Yangshuo, and it's absolutely full of souvenir shops. Wander a little further away and you'll find the real Yangshuo, including the indoor market where the locals shop.

The throngs of people from all over the world added to the street festival feel. Quite a contrast from the peaceful country side.

ABSOLUTELY PACKED at night. A lot more vendors selling everything, more food choices from grilled sea food to German sausages. Just a lot of fun but at night u have to like crowds.

West Street is half a kilometre long with side streets and paralllel streets too. It is crowded, so guard your money. Every three or four metres is another little shop with sellers of other merchandise lining the middle. If you like tat , this is the place to buy it, including straw hats, fake Raybans, keyrings galore and sweets made... More
