I did this tour with Latchir expeditions and had a great time. It's the most affordable tour in San Pedro de Atacama, and also one of the most stunning (in my opinion). The Salt Mountains ar great to gaze at and fun to climb. The view of the sunset from the summit is beautiful.

This is the most affordable tour in San Pedro de Atacama and the most available and I think one of the best value for money still to view the colours of the desert and the amazing landscapes... Short tour for everybody except the last part that is definitely not recommendable if you are handicapped in any way due to the... More

Having visited the area some years ago when it was still possible to climb the dune I was initially disappointed that this was no longer permitted. The climb up to the view point is not as impressive now but still worth the effort. Members of the group were initially disappointed with the sunset but it is not the colours of... More

The best part of the visit was walking thru the canyon. Your bus should drop you off at one end, then pick you up at the other. Our guide explained the rock formations, showed us the mica and let us rest for a bit in an natural cave. The Moon Valley is worth the time and money to get there!

We decided to cycle the park as it is only 6km away from San Pedro. Once inside the park it is 11km to Tres Marias the last major viewpoint, though I recommend skipping this one, which would shave a few km off the trip. The high for the day was about 25 celsius or 75 fahrenheit, which was very pleasant... More

You could really believe you were on the moon in this valley, rugged rocks, sand, dunes and not a sign of life. Quite a trek to the top of the rocks to see the dune (no-one allowed on the large dune now to protect it). We saw it in the morning, no-one but us there, it was very peaceful and... More

Stunning sights, extreme landscapes. Worth spending some time driving around and stopping every now and then. A must is viewing the sunset over the valley, perhaps from one of the viewing points on the main road

There are essentially 4 basic tours that most visitors to San Pedro will take. In our opinion, this is the best. Moon valley is only about 10 km out of town and has beautifully sculptured cliffs, landmarks and valleys. It is mostly a reddish rock which adds to the beauty of this region and also provides spectacular sunsets. Although this... More

Lots to marvel at in this strange lunar scenery of coloured rocks. Well worth the short trip at sunset to see the weird shapes carved by nature and the fascinating geology of the area. Don't stray off the paths into the dunes or the rangers will come after you. The faint hearted or anyone over 5ft 8ins should think twice... More

We did not do the usual tour to the moon valley but we have chosen to book sandboarding in death valley (we really enjoyed) and after the guides took us to moon valley to see the sunset and to have some pisco sour. Both valleys have amazing landscapes.
