We did a full days tour to the lagoons, simply stunning scenery. If you are a nature lover and photographer this is a tour for you. Breath taking. Wasn't too sure about the hygiene of the restaurant we stopped at for breakfast and lunch so we stuck to fruit and our own water out of a bottle.

We went to 2 lagoons south of Toconao, Miscanti (?) and an adjoining one, both about 4,300 meters. Nice place to just sit and soak up the awesome scenery.

Visited the lagoons of Miscanti and Miniques and also Laguna de Chaxa with Turismo Layana, company recommended by our holiday. Our guide, Jimena, was excellent - superb English, friendly, knowledgeable… She translated everything but her Spanish was also clear and easy to understand. We particularly enjoyed the peace of the flamingo reserve at Lake Chaxa - breathtakingly beautiful. Not a... More

Extremely beautiful landscape of salt water lagoon surrounded by volcanos. Red earth dotted with yellow tufts of grass that are also used for roof materials. Bathroom on site clean. Trails well marked. Ducks able to nest in cold waters.

Not as good as the el tatio area, but pretty. Long drive but it's very scenic. You can stop by Cejar and the water holes on the way.

From an arid desert type San Pedro city landscape, one can reach high mountain climate within a matter of 2 hours drive where the altitude was pretty high and also very cold. When we visited this place on 17th March, 2015 it was also raining at these lakes! You really need a heavy woolen to get down at these sites!... More

This trip takes you from an absolute arid desert into incredible lagoons surrounded by snowy mountains and colorful vegetation as you go higher into the mountain range. Absolutely recommended. Just take care of young children and altitude sickness, since this road will take you up to 4.300m

My family and I (husband, teen, kids in 20's) visited this during a day long (like 12 hour) tour of the area (including the Red Rocks) tour. Absolutely breathtaking views, wild animals (vicuna, fox, rabbits).

Highly recommended, don't miss this day trip! Is quite a drive from San Pedro but it's a beautiful route and the reward is amazing
