A wonderful morning trip out of San Pedro de Atacama before Sun Rise. It is dark until you get closer to the Tatio Area. Be prepared to pay an entrance fee on arrival to the park. Bring you own water and breakfast. The one served by the organizer is very simple. We went there in Febr. and the temperature was... More

I've never seen a geyser field before so, for me, it was a unique, fascinating, first-time experience, but the "geysers" are mostly high steam columns coming straight out of the ground, and at some places it's boiling water rising only 30-50cm before vaporizing. it's nothing like the pictures you see, for example, of the Old Faithful at Yellowstone, where the... This is an interesting trip tho the ride in the EARLY morning in the van of our tour company was very rough and long. They were sposed to pick us up at 4:30 am and did not show until 5:15 because they were late picking everyone else before us up. The pretour breakfast at the Geyser lodge was great and... More

We left the hotel at 5am. The drive felt long and bumpy - but then again I did sleep for most of the way! Our guide, Mauricio, drives a Rav 4, so I reclined my seat and announced to wake me when we got there! Watching the colourful orange sun rise behind the black mountains and volcanoes is very beautiful.... More

We had to go very early in the morning when it was very cold (high altitude of 4,320 meters) before the sun was up. Everything was beautiful and the craters continually change positions. We took some 'coca' for the high altitude. The volcanic magna enters an underground river, the water boils and forms craters where bubbling water and vapour comes... More

The visit to the Geisers are well worth it but whatever you do, do NOT use Cactus Tours. That company has gone out of business but they still operate off of their website. I booked a tour from them over the internet and later once I was in San Pedro I found out that they did not have an office... More

Choose well your tour company. Fews have nice buses with heating and confortable seats when others are just horribly raw and you'll have to go with it from 4 am to 6:30 on the 90 km up to the geotermic camp. If you are expecting huge geysers with water spilling out of 10 meters, you'll be disappointed. just boiling water... More

Do not hesitate to have Grado 10 tour service to take you up to 4.300Km high near of the volcanoes area. Be ready to wake up on 4am and be there at 6am with temperatures lower as (minus) -15 Celsius degrees. Also, be prepared for altitude sickness . But it was part of a unique experience at one of the... More

at first, you have to wake up at 4am, spend 2 hours in a bus (and ours had no heating, so I began freeZing on the way). You get there and it's -12°C, and the geysir is almost a joke... just some bubbles and smoke. REALLY disappointing, and it took almost an hour for my feet to unfreeze,
