We started operating in San Pedro in 2003 (ten years ago) and now have the largest public observatory in South America. We offer tours in different languages (english french and spanish) by guides who are competent in astronomy and who do speak these languages natively. If you want to observe through the sky through the largest visual telescopes in South America, and see the marvels of our universe, we are the place.

After 3 days of the Salt Flats / Desert tours in Bolivia, we were quite tired of looking at natural beauty -- this was the one thing that absolutely blew us away. One of the best things we did across our 4 weeks in South America. Book in advance, and go with these guys (the original) as the experience is... More

I cannot recommend doing star gazing in San Pedro enough and this is THE company to do it with. We were lucky as when we made our first enquiry, all their tours were booked up a week in advance; however we managed to get a couple of cancellation spots. Bear this in mind if you're only there for a limited... More

The tour is very professional. They've a a very limited number of slots per day so try to make a reservation prior to the arrival in San Pedro. We stayed there for a week and could only book it for the last night. It costs 20,000 pesos. The tour itself is great for knowledge and photography. Amazing sky in Atacama!

I really enjoyed this tour. We didn't book it until the afternoon and were able to go on the 11pm tour. There are about 20 people per tour and everyone gets picked up in the 'downtown' area. You go to the observatory where upon arrival you are greeted by the guide. You stand for about 30 minutes as the guide... More

I attended this stargazing "tour" in mid-November 2014. I had an excellent experience and I highly recommend this activity to others. The tour lasted about 2.5 hours. My group was picked up near the San Pedro Space office at midnight and we drove for about 10 minutes until we reached our destination. We were met by Les, our entertaining and... More

Had a great night looking at the stars and the moon. Our Canadian guide gave us good insight into astronomy with a good amount of humor. Compared to other tours, you can look through 10 different telescopes (and even take pictures of the moon using them). Recommended.

The tour was ok but the way to go back to the hostel was the worst that I had in my life experience. The time to go back was around 2:30 am, the bus driver offered to dropped me off near the hostel. He mistook the name of the address and dropped me off in a wrong address at 2:30... More

My friend and I went for her birthday and we had a great night. Our wise cracking Canadian guide was really good. He explained a lot of interesting things about the zodiac, constellations and facts about our night sky. Then we were introduced to the 10 telescopes looking at various stars, 2 on the moon (which was amazing to see... More

I thoroughly enjoyed the stargazing and information provided. Don't expect to see anything too clearly through the telescopes. The English speaking guide from Canada was excellent. When booking and paying for the yours the two ladies working in the office made us feel like we were intruding on their personal time. It was a bit uncomfortable booking and then paying... More

We joined Alain's French language stargazing tour in the beginning of August and it was very informative and Alain really manages to catch his audience and bring over his passion for the stars and planets. Our children liked the tour also and we learned a lot. We were extremely lucky to stay two nights in Alain's and Alejandra's Atacama lodge.... More
