Both times that I have visited Portillo they have gotten pounded with snow. Take the crazy lift up Roca Jack and let the games begin. The lodge itself is ugly from the outside but very warm and cozy on the inside. The food and service is nothing less than top notch. Bar scene is great. Fun crowd and good entertainment... More

The view of the lake is one of the most fantastic sights you will ever see. The place is really beautiful, unique. The resort is not full of people as Valle Nevado and the service is much, much better. It is a bit small, yes, but you can find a couple of good runs for each level of difficulty. And... More

no lines, great slopes and charming hotel. Perfect spot to ski with the family, maybe for young people lacks night life

A little farther to drive, but a much better road than Valle Nevado. Keep in mind that South American resorts cater to hotel guests, so day trippers like us are don't have access to the facilities, like a lodge, storage, etc. But generally the staff were otherwise helpful. Awesome views, much better fall lines and runs than Valle Nevado, and... More

The hotel is really nice. The rooms are up-to-date and well equipped, eventhough there are no TV´s in them. The hotel restaurant has outstanding service and good food. That been said, the price for the whole week is really high and all the extras are extremely overpriced when compared to the whole rest of Chile. It´s a shock when you... More

They offered hat I believe was a student special. For 45 luca (45,000 pesos) it included transportation from Vina del Mar, lift tickets, rentals, and instructors for novices. First for the good: it was a good value, the views were gorgeous, the people were very friendly and helpful, and the weather was nice (sort of an independent but I'll go... More

We arrived in Portillo by motorcoach from Santiago for the day - a beautiful drive through chilean mining country, may switchbacks, and we loved seeing the treacherous looking ski slopes and the beautiful lake...the resort there was so so, mediocre service and food, but the trip was well worth it...

First of all let me say I skied here on a day trip from Santiago. I like to ski varied terrain and I didn't want to commit to a one week stay at Portillo (the resort itself has a one week minimum stay policy). That being said, the ski facilities are pretty good. Once I got Roca Jack out of... More

Aside from it being on the main commercial artery between Santiago, Chile and Mendoza, Argentina (think lots of semi trucks on winding, two lane highway, it's a beautiful, old resort - vintage 1950-60's. Modern ammenities and skiing, huddled around a lake in the middle of the mountains. It's a little bit farther away from Santiago than the other three (La... More
