Small slightly funky place, amazing night skies, friendly people. I recommend the guys who drive you and some bicycles up to the top of the valley, then follow you down as the sun sets - stunning views - visit to a distillery on the way up - no extra cost. You can also organise evening trips to the observatories from... More

Loved everything about this outing: learning about the different kinds of grapes, visiting a Pisqueria, eating at the Solares, and enjoying the amazing Star Show at the Mamayuca Observatory. A full day of surprises and breath-taking vistas of the Andes and the the Southern Night Sky. April/11 More

Do not miss the Elqui Valey experience and make sure you spend at least one night over there to enjoy the amazing skies at night, is like starts were reachable at your hands, lovely river and very nice local food. Arquitecture is pintoresque and a lot of adobe houses that have survived many earthquaques, Worth it More

It is 2 hrs. from La Serena away and one of the two main attractions of the area. (Isla Damas is the other). You get there by "collectivo" and it is a day-trip. Begin early in the day in order to have some time to spend in the villages in the valley. If you like pisco, I recommend the 1-hr.-Tour... More

There is something minimalist but so enchanting about this narrow valley deep within the Andes. The green, the pale brown and the blue plus the light clear air are a natural high. Then you have a pisco sour, from the very home of the pisco sour in Pisco Elqui and the effect is spritual. Book months in advance for the... More

My husband and I fell in love with Elqui Valley and chose to stay in this area for a couple of months. It is so beautiful and the sun shines every day! We have the Andes mountains surrounding the small town of Vicuña. We also took a trip to Pisco Elqui and plan to go back for a bike tour.... More
