After travelling around for three weeks our reading supplies was getting slim so this was the perfect place to restock our suppliers for the rest of our journey. It is small but there are enough books crammed in the space that there should be something for everyone. As others have said if you require a specific author it's best to... More

This small English bookshop is just around the corner of the Yantra hotel where we were staying. We saw the sign "books" in front of a cute old house and decided to pop in and have a look. The room is small, spotless, not at all cave like, with white walls lined with bookshelves full of interesting books in English.... More

I discovered the Bookcave a couple of years ago and have been visiting it ever since. The lady, Karen, is really friendly and will go to any lengths to cater for the customers' needs. There is also the option to bring back the book after you have read it and have a 50% refund. Even if there isn't some book... More

Glad you enjoy us :) One of the lovely things about running a book shop is the customers. We're always happy to meet new ones and welcome back old ones. We do indeed offer a read and return service which is much used by locals, Bulgarian and ex-pats alike. This is maybe less useful for travellers who tend to spend... More

Several weeks ago, while visiting Verniko Tarnovo, a Bulgarian friend took us to the Book Cave. The Book Cave, is a small but very pleasant speciality bookshop for those in search of English language books. The Book Cave is run run by Karen, an English woman who enjoys her customers and likes talking with them about books, about Bulgaria and... More

So glad that you enjoyed your visit and also that you highlighted the potential to exchange your own read books. This is something that we find travellers with limited luggage space appreciate. It's always worth dropping us a line ahead of your visit as we only have space for about half the books in the shop at any one time,... More

The book shop is a cozy little room with a dozen or so shelves of (good) English language books. Perfect for trading in your finished books with actual good books (versus those you get a hostel book swap) at a decent price. The English owners might also be up for a chat about life in Bulgaria, or might even give... More

Our first review, how exciting and I only found it because a friend sent me the link. Glad you enjoyed the shop and thank you for 'calling us cosy' rather that 'tiny' :) For anyone in Tarnovo for only a short time it's worth contacting us ahead of your arrival if you're looking for something specific. Not all of the... More
