We have stayed in Nessebar many times, and the Old Town is always a great place for an evening stroll (or a several-hour visit, if you are on a one-time excursion). It's definitely worth a visit. It is still a very touristy place though, with all the respective consequences. Restaurants are cheaper (and often better) in the new town.

This was my second visit here and it is one of my favourite places. The town is on a peninsula connected to the mainland by a causeway. Such modern buildings as exist are at the western end and the town is almost totally historic as you proceed east to the coast. There are a sufficient number of shops covering a... More

Can wander about the old streets, along coast path have a coffee, a bit more expensive but you pay for the view. Also eating out is dearer, didn't indulge this visit. One of the top 5 places to visit. Tip don't go in first car park use the metered ones. He ripped us off

Visit the old city of Nessebar and get lost in old times. You will enjoy the seaside, Bulgarian Renaissance houses, old churches and cozy atmosphere.

Our cruise ship docked at Burgas, which is not a very attractive town, very austere and full of communist era buildings. Thank goodness we had decided to do a ship's tour to Nessebar which is about a 45 minute drive away. Old Nessebar is very picturesque, with old wooden buildings (now fully restored and converted into shops, cafes and bars)... More

The walk around old Nessebar, a visit to the fine, little museum, and a stop in the Byzantine church are worth a couple of hours. Old Nessebar is picturesque, overlooking the Black Sea and the modern city in the distance. Although exhibits in the museum are well-labeled, it is useful to have a knowledgable guide overall, to appreciate the historic... More

The town sits on a small rocky peninsula connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus. Winding cobble stone streets are lined with stone and timber houses. The town is quite small and can be visited on foot. Several church ruins with unique features including horizontal stripes of white stone. The oldest is Sveti loan Krastitel ( St. John the... More

A world heritage city. A well maintained town, beautiful views. Buses, mini triain and boats serve the town. Lovely shops, a bit different to elsewhere.Restaurants and some bars can be expensive by Bulgarian standards. But we have found some good bars and restaurants at good prices. We go most evenings for a wander and to watch the world go by..
