Beautiful conservation area - full of green, beautiful sea full of fish to dive and rich history of the old prison. Scientists develop work in the island to follow impact of introduced species.

Ilha Anchieta is a great place to visit. It used to be a prison, and now when you go you can visit all that is left of the prison and there are people that actually lived there during that time telling the story! And the beach is great too!

We took a schooner day trip to Anchieta, but I would recommend hiring your own, smaller boat to do the trip. I think it would be more comfortable (the schooners get very crowded) and you would have more time to spend on the island that way. The island is part of a State Park and used to house a major... The Ubatuba beach until the last census has 102 beaches where the integration of the mountains with the sea and the Mata Atlantica is a show for lovers of nature. The boat rides were this time our focus and visited the Islands Coves from Picinguaba beach, 12 beaches from the beach of Lazaro found the coolest Anchieta Island from the... More

It is a perfect combination of nature and history, a perfect spot for scuba diving and snorkeling. The water is absolutely clean and warm, full of colorful fishes and reefs around the rocks. During the winter time it is possible to swim with jellyfish. The historic area have exposed images and papers about the old prision that use to run... More

Beautiful uninhabited island with secluded beaches and a nice old prison to visit. However, avoid taking a touristic tour and hire your own boat instead.

We have stopped here several times on schooner rides. It is the site of a famous prison revolt. Getting to the island is very pretty. The island itself is interesting with its prison ruins and nice beaches. My favorite part was seeing the Capibaras ( giant rodents) , which hang out in the river.

Take a schooner from Saco da Ribeira and enjoy the day in this beautiful island. Don't forget to bring you snorkel.

This is not about Ilha Anchieta, I did not even go there. But I just went to Ubatuba, and had a great time - thanks to Bruno, at Mar e Serra travel. I have been trying to post this info around a lot, because this guy really helped make my trip great. He has a travel agency in the Itagua... More
