The landscaped gardens provide a refreshing respite from the surrounding urban chaos, while the ornate museum itself — affiliated with the University of São Paulo — educates visitors in the history of the city and nation via portraiture, antique vehicles, housewares and informational installations. Ticket includes entrance to the nearby Museu de Zoologia (Zoology Museum). « less

beautiful architecture and my favorite place are the parks around the Museum, one behind the museum more privative and small, another one in front of the museum, actually is a huge place with trees and flat floor to skate and bike pratice. Also the museum's garden is amazing!

If you like history and are familiar with Brazilian history, this museum is worth the trip. Nice inventory of paintings, documents, clothing and weapons from the time of the empire. There is also a room with examples of Brazilian insect fauna.

This museum has a historical meaning for us Brazilian because it's linked with our Republic Proclamation , that was proclaimed in a river bank near this museum that was inspired in the Versailles castle. It's also a park ,ideal place for a cycle .

The museum objects are really part of Brazilian history. It is great to be there, the architecture is amazing. The surrounding unfortunately is not aligned with the historic value of the location, it is simply not well preserved (trees, fountains, etc). Still worth a visit.

This museum is located in a neighborhood that doesn't look like you are in São Paulo! A quite, nice and clean place! The museum is amazing: huge and classic; sort of a castle! The garden is right outside the entrance door! Seems like a famous French Garden! Behind the museum you can also find a park, see monkeys, walk around!... More

You' ll love the architecture, there are big prints of the independence history of Brazil, with some antiques recreating those times, how people lived. Don't expect more than that. The exterior is greater than the inside exhibits. There are guided tours, however despite arriving on time, no one was able to tell if the tour has left or not.

The museum is located next to an enormous park. The area and building are quite attractive. There are many historical items in the museum. I heartily recommend a visit to this very fine museum

Spend an hour in the museum and you'll know all you need to know about SP's history. The park around the museum is nice and peaceful, worth a stroll.
