The garden opened in 1938 to preserve part of the remaining Atlantic coastal forest, and it functions as a research facility focusing on Brazilian flora and fauna. The garden also shelters the source of the Rio Ipiranga, which figures heavily into national patriotic lore. « less

Okay, let's be honest, botanical gardens are not quite what one would deem "fun" - most people are not very interested in flora and wouldn't bother doing some background research about what is there to see in a botanical garden. And yet, this beautiful, huge and Skyrim-like park won't cease to amaze you - from watermills to bamboo walls and... More

Nice lesiurely stroll. Not too exciting. They have a good little restaurant though. It's buffet style and you pay by the wieght. Many people from neighboring businesses come to eat here.

We travelled from central São Paulo using public transport (gasp!) Was really easy, metro station sauda and 4742 bus R$5 to get into the park along with kids of Saopaulians and their kids! Bring a picnic and a blanket to lie around on the grass, plenty of shade too. We ate in the 'pay by the kilo' restaurant which kind... More

You can feel in a jungle see the palmeiras and the mata atlantica, I did´t like the sensorial garden made for blind people because there were not many plants.

Spend here a lovely morning with my parents. Easy walking, quiet and green. Lots of different plants/tree and therefore insects. There was a lot of movement above the water, Unfortunately the walk through the trees was closed, we are curious to explore this path too !

Went just once with my girlfriend but spent 3 hours in a relaxing park environment which basically isn't something you'd expect in Sao Paulo. Not as much a botanical park as you'd get in the rest of the world, as just a park!

I was there on July 30, 2014. It is extremely nice, there is a lot of shade and you can enjoy it even in sunny weather. Many chairs can be used or even lie on the green grass. About 1200 species of plants and many birds and animals. This garden is one of the most beautiful places I have ever... More

I went there with my fiance to enjoy a sunday afternoon. The place is absolutelly beautiful! Lots of nature, very clean and well kept! There are very interesting species of plants and some art pieces. The space is very well used, you actually forget you're in a major city. Access was very easy from subway station "Saúde" and took us... More
