An excellent bookstore, also for books in English - there's a wide variety, and in many different categories. Worth a visit, even if not planning on buying anything. One of the main bookstores of São Paulo.

Given that I've never been to all the bookstores in South America, much less all the ones in Sao Paulo, I'm just going to go ahead and declare this the best in South America. Great little English section for the gringos. There's a dragon hanging from the ceiling. On Tuesdays there's free jazz in the theater. That's right- the bookstore... More

Brilliant store, best selection of books in the country. All the specialities, though can be v pricey. Good for hard to find books on Brazil. Nice cafe and atmosphere. Great for wet days in Sao Paulo

This book store is huge and you can find books from all sorts. The books are distributed around 4 floors. The place also has a coffee shop and a theater. Other branches from the same book store can be found in the same building complex. Those book stores are specific for art and geek books. Another one only sells books... More

Livraria Cultura is one of my favorite places in the world. Books as far as the eye can see - spread over 6 floors in 2 stores (located across from each other). The majority of the books are (of course) in Portuguese, but Cultura also has a very large collection of English. Spanish, and French titles (a few in German... More

This huge store is not only the best bookstore in the city, but also a very attractive place for tourists. Easy to find books in other languages, DVDs, games, CDs and Vinyl.

This is a nice place to browse/ buy books. Unlike the States you can't bring books to read to in the Coffee shop. There is always lots of people and sometimes they have book signings. There is also a Cinema and they usually show good foreign films. This place is well located, right in the Paulista Ave, the most popular... More

Once I found it this was great. HOWEVER The bookshop is in a shopping centre on paulista avenida next to Consolação metro. NOT on the big motorway. I saw other confused people there...Someone change The map. Thank you. Otherwise, great resource and lovely atmosphere. Yes books are expensive but you can sit in the cafe and read them.

Staying in Jardins

Neighborhood Profile
Jardins
Located just below important Paulista Avenue, Jardins is the junction of four smaller neighborhoods: Jardim Paulista, Jardim América, Jardim Europa and Jardim Paulistano. It is an upper-class area, offering a variety of things to do, including shopping, museums and parks. The neighborhood is well known for “Oscar Freire”– the most luxurious street in the city, packed with high-end boutiques. In Jardins you will also find a trendy museum, São Paulo Museum of Image and Sound (MIS), which people often line up for hours to visit. If green space is what you're after, take time to relax at Trianon Park, a refuge in the heart of Paulista Avenue.
