It's hard to find a zoo that creates a completely natural habitat for its animals, and the São Paulo Zoo is no exception. Still, staff try to provide a decent home for the more than 3,000 animals in their care, including local luminaries such as the Brazilian howler monkey and the red-breasted toucan. Tue-Sun 9am-5pm

We went four people and had a very good time. It was on a normal work day so there were no crowds and everything was easily accessible. Every place had very good signs even if only in Portuguese. The safari was good value but we expected a more "open Savannah" experience.

Pro's - wildlife beyond the cages - Typical south american animals - Good hike - Location Con's - Terrible conditions - horrific fat animals ( cat types) - not clean - Aggressive local monkey's ( outside cages) trowing stuff at visitors

Very cool place, but some animals were sleeping or in other places (not in cage). It's a good activity for families.

For small kids there's something better than walk around the zoo. The zoo Safari is a tour by your own car or a shuttle through free animals like llamas, camels, lots of birds, and big felines (those are gaged). You can feed some of them with a kind of pet food you can buy there. Nice tour!

This is a chance to see very close the Brazilian species of animals. Give special attention, if you like, to the birds.

It's a good zoo with almost all the animals you can find in any other zoos. Fortunately, monkeys were funny, otherwise, it's packed.

Few experiences are as significant for adults and children and a visit to the zoo. Enjoy the wealth of fauna creates a powerful and universal bond with nature. Approximately 10% of the population domundo visit a zoo or aquarium each year. Since opening in 1958, the Sao Paulo Zoo has received over 85 million visitors.

Don't go to this Zoo if you are expecting a zoo like the San Diego Zoo or Sidney Zoo. Most of it's animals are from the brazilian fauna (even though it has some african/asian animals). Also, try to get in early as the queue to enter it can become quite long.

Sao Paulo Zoo is a very big place. It has a wide variety of animals from all over the world. The condition of the zoo is average, you can tell it's been around for some time and I think it needs some kind of remodelling. The animal enclosures varied a lot, some had the space needed, others were too small.... More

Lots of very interesting animals such as caracals, araçais and an anaconda but they all had very small cages and seem very bored. The African animals (giraffe, zebra, rhino etc.) were the only animals who really didn't seem to care because their space was rather big compared to the other cages.
