Still, staff try to provide a decent home for the more than 3,000 animals in their care, including local luminaries such as the Brazilian howler monkey and the red-breasted toucan. For sure it is not the best zoo... but still it is a great place for young children to get to see real animals from different origins. With limited options in Sao Paulo, it is defenetely a good plan for a family day.

Fantastic! São Paulo's zoo boasts with species from all over the world. In a metropolis such as São Paulo, it's eye-filling to see so many animals fostered in (at least) sufficient sized cages and dens, men dividing space with the true owners of the land (and those brought here from faraway lands). Just like every attraction, eating at the zoo... More

We went a little while back to scout out the place as an option for a family visit, and decided against putting in on the itinerary. Reasons were; (1) It's a long drive from the centre of Sao Paulo and with bad traffic over an hour, (2) it's a little sad and dilapidated compared to zoos in other major capitals... More

If you are in São Paulo, do not waste your time visiting the zoo. It's far from city center, extremely crowded, stinky, dirty and in bad conditions of care. If you know any other zoo in any other country, you will be very disappointed.

I went with my family on Sunday and, obviously, it was a total caos. I didin't like the lack of organization in the entrance as it doesn't have a person to control the lines. Also you have to pay R$ 4 to get the map, we shouldn't have to pay to find ourselves inside there! Or at least put some... More

Comparing with other Zoos I find it small for a big city like SP. Most animals have small spaces, some are very lonely, but all of them looks very well so I think that they are having a good care. Public transportation is not good and entrance fees are expensive considering that we are not in a first world country... More

Lovely to visit on a good sunny day. Has a lot of shade so even when very hot it doesn´t get too unpleasant. Food stalls are few and get very crowded at lunch time. A pity to see some animals with small enclosures and some animals were lonely, they didn´t have mates but the variety was good. Enjoyed being able... More

You can see the animals, feed them, and get very close to several big ones. Don't open your window when you pass the monkey's cage. They may get in! But it is VERY nice. My kids always loved. Plan to go early in the morning so that there is no waiting time. And you can get a free 2nd or... More

Zoo Safari is one attraction of the São Paulo Zoo. The zoo itself is a wonderful experience but the Zoo Safari (you buy the tickets for the ride at the “alameda leão” close to the dromedaries . You board a zoo´s van and go inside the animal area! You can have a really close look of the animals and even... More

Many kind of animals but the public transportation to Zoo isn't good. The subway should arrive untill Zoo, and you can realize that the Zoo could be clenner.
