It's hard to find a zoo that creates a completely natural habitat for its animals, and the São Paulo Zoo is no exception. Still, staff try to provide a decent home for the more than 3,000 animals in their care, including local luminaries such as the Brazilian howler monkey and the red-breasted toucan.

Prepare yourself for a nice walk, this zoo is really big. Almost all species are represented, perfect for kids to discover in one place so many of them. Just try to avoid school day when you plan your visit.

I have lived in São Paulo all my life. Many locals don't reccomend the zoo, but I must disagree! The zoo is a great place to get in touch with Brazilian (and non-Brazilian) wildlife! There is a very large variety of animals, and most of the cages are very well kept. If you go on a weekend, arrive early, because... More

Better than expected. Very beautiful place, very clean and organized. Animals are beautiful and lots of food / ice cream options. The "simba Safari " is now part of the zoo and also a great option. On December 2015 they had a dinosaurs exhibit that was also fun.

Good experience with kids. The zoo has many giant animals. However it is a huge place. Reserve at least 4 hours.

Visited the place on a weekend and thankfully it was not too crowded. The zoo has a good collection of animals, birds and reptiles and one can easily spend 2-3 hours roaming around the place. It also has a small live museum of dinosaurs for the Dino-lovers to click photos with their favorite extinct creatures.

Nice spot for kids or photo enthusiasts. You can get there by public transportation. I recommend arriving early to spend the day, wearing sunblock and hats if sunny. You can bring your own snacks so you don't have to buy there. There are a lot of exotic animals as well as lions, zebras, giraffes and monkeys. If you go by... More

I have been to this zoo since I was a child and it is always a good trip to enjoy with the kids. There is a great variety of animals. It is an excellent place to have a picnic with the kids, to take photos and enjoy with the family.

With 824,529 m² (8875.2 square feet) of space and more than 3000 animals...this place is a good choice to go with kids and let them learn about animal life. The park itself is huge and the animals have a reasonable amount of space (obviously is not as good as in their natural habitats). The Safari part is the one we... More

Sao Paulo zoo is beautiful and great for kids. I honestly don't think adults will have much fun particularly if you've been to bigger zoos with wide variety of animals. The zoo is very clean and well maintained and just a place I will go to move away from the big city.
