Owner description: Located in a Victorian-era structure reminiscent of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Catavento Cultural is chock-full of interactive, hands-on exhibits and educational activities for children. Subjects covered include space, wildlife, geography, the human body and society. They are presented in action-filled, engaging fashion for the little ones. The surrounding neighborhood can be a bit sketchy, so taking a cab is recommended.

If you're not from SP you should just take a cab there. Huge lines for parking inside the museum and kind of dangerous to park in the streets. Museum is worth going with kids though - even before you enter it they have trains and real airplanes outside that children would love to just check them out

Despite saying this 'museum' is for all ages, this is truly a place for kids. Very interactive, in my view the best place in town to take small kids. Attractions go from old trains, airplaces, navy canons in the outside to a series of exhibitions and interactive attractions in the inside. There is a very nice coffee shop and the... More

the whole family could actually stay here for a day and not get bored at all. the children will definitely learn a lot, so as the adults too. the place is clean and these brazilian staff are all accommodating though they can't speak english well, they have done their best to handle our small requests and questions.

You can spend half a day there, very good for families. After you can go to Mercado Municipal which is very near and have some Mortadela Sandwich, also see all typical Brazilian fruits.

They claim that the museum is for all ages, but I do not agree. If your adult and interested in science you've surely already seen and tried all the "experiments" they have, so there will be nothing there for you. If you are adult and not intersted in science then there might be something fo you there, but I doubt... More

This place is very interesting to go with children. It is a place to learn about science. It is nice to spend a couple of hours here. Well worth the cheap entry fee. You can get here without a car since there is a metro station 5 minutes away, but the walk seemed a bit dangerous to me, better to... More

A pretty good science museum with both static displays and hands-on exhibits, especially about physics (optics, magnetism, mechanics). Far from the Deutsches Museum in Munich, the best in the world and no San Francisco’s Exploratorium either, though better than average. The signs are Portuguese only and even then there are no deep explanations, just superficial ones.

Placed in Parque Dom Pedro II, this museum is the perfect mix between knowledge, games and shows. The building is really impressing because it's a wonderful villa with a quite nice garden. The real name of this center is Catavento Cultural and it presents a lot of special attractions. First of all you can find in the garden some original... More
