The bridge used to connect the island to the mainland in the past. It's kinda sad it's not in use anymore. Local government has spent a fortune and ages to recover it, but apparently the money wasn't enough yet. Or maybe corrupted politicians used most of it to connect something else. Still a nice pic for the album.

The landmark of the city. The bridge allows one to travel from one locale to another. It is the most beautiful site at night,

As a native in Florianópolis, I really like this bridge, a great simbol for us. Nowadays, it is just a postcard: we cannot cross, join, ect. I really Suggest you visit Forte San'tana and then be really close to the bridge. You have at least more 3 viewpoints: from Parque da Luz, an amazing sunset around Terminal Rita Maria. and... More

It's the city post card. It was the first bridge linking the island of Florianópolis with the continent, but today it is completely out of work.

This is the old bridge, which has completely gone out of order since the construction of the other adjacant new bridge connecting the continent with the island. It is nice to go there in the evening when it is beautifully lit or to watch it from a nocturnal landing plane, like I did tonight when coming back from Brasilia.

It's the city post card. It's very beautiful, but unfortunately the government doesn't take care of it as it should.

this is the old bridge that connected this strange island with the continent. then for whatever even stranger reason they built a new one and this has been renovated for about 30 years :) of course it is closed. a nice means for typical third world corrupt local officials ( i imagine e mayor quimby from the simpsons haha) to...
