I loved Florianopolis...it´s beaches, it´s beira mar, and I liked downtown too.
But the historic district has no charm at all...shineless, boring...avoid it!
The public market it´s even worst: there are a few, very few stores related with sea products or food. T- shirts and fake tennis shoes rule the market.

Don´t miss the chance to visit the Public Market once you are in Florianopolis because it´s a very nice historic buiding (first phase built in 1899 and the second in 1915) with more than 100 small shops (they call it "boxes"). We bought great popular art for fair prices (don´t forget to bargain allways): ceramics and very nice decorative stuff...

Nice place to visit, eat and shopping
Don´t miss "Box 32", full of people of all ages, specially at noon and for tha happy hour. Hungry?? Try " pastel de camarão". Can´t go wrong! Visit all the shopping boxes too.
