A charming town on a big like with scenic views. Take the boat ride around the lake, get off at one of the restaurants around the lake at the dock and have lunch. Catch the next boat back to Lagoa. Take a swim at Bairra da Lagoa.

Barra da Lagoa is an incredibly beautiful place where the Barra meets the ocean and you can catch a gorgeous view of both the beach and the barra, especially if you cross the bridge and hike up the hillside a little ways. Right next to the bridge there is a place where you can rent surfboards, stand up paddle boards,... More

This is a very spectacular, wide, long beach. Just be sure to go a bit further from the crowds. It's a completely different experience. This is also the place to go if you want to take surf lessons, plus it's very easily to reach by bus.

This is one of the most picturesque place on the island. First, there is a lovely beach where surf beginners can practice. Then, this is a charming Portuguese fishing village. The village and the harbor are located on the river that links the backcountry lagoons to the ocean. There are many cormorants waiting for fish. The fishermen are the descendants... More

Great place to chill out for a few days on your travels when in Florianopolis. There are loads of hostels near the beach. The waves are small as the bay is sheltered by a peninsula. The little village here has restaurants, supermarkets, bars. Only issue is the 2 bus rides to get out here from the Rodoviaria in Centro.

I'm an American who lives in Barra six months a year and was attracted to the place by the 15km crescent shaped beach where within a ten minute walk you can be by yourself with the surf and seabirds. The canal portion of Lagoa is the commercial area but does have too much to offer except seafood restaurants that offer... More

Visited on an overcast & eventually raining day. The bus stops right near the lagoon where people were swimming. We walked out to the point where people were fishing (successfully) It was very crowded near the shops but as you walked further around the bay it got less so. Hiring umbrellas & chairs were slightly cheaper here ( R26) On... More

I loved this place. I was there for a Saturday night. At the kiosk there was a group playing music which was followed by a 20-person drumming band. The music was wonderful. There are plenty of places to eat (Meu Cantinha was my favorite... very good seafood pasta.

I spent a couple of months living and working in Barra da Lagoa. It's a great little fishing village, with some really wonderful and welcoming people. With regards to the beach itself, there aren't quite as many restaurants/bars compared to some other beaches around Floripa. Although a lot of vendors appear in nice weather, and there's a pretty amazing ice... More

It is like a little town with 2 nice beaches. There are shops , markets and restaurants within walking distance. Beaches are nice but get very busy on high season and wih lots of families and kids. For seeing other beaches you need to move around the island.
