Loved visiting this town during my stay. Plenty of good places to eat, locals to meet, and close to Praia Mocambique.

I was hosted in Barra da Lagoa and its a very calm neighborhood of Florianópolis. You can find a lot of good and cheap restaurants, the beach is safe and there are a many houses for rental. Its a very good place to practice sports like jogging and stand up paddle. The ocean at this part of the island is... More

I had been on the island a couple of weeks before I made it to Barra - loved it. A nice main beach and a cosy little beach (Prainha) around the cove. Lots of cool little bars, hostels and restaurants - all a bit cheaper than most other parts of the island, and a nice friendly vibe around the place.... More

The surf here is usually good for beginners, the water is calm. It has a little town that offers a few places to eat but we preferred Lagoa Conceicao. Also, the beach wasn't anywhere near as clean and the beaches to the south of the island. Wouldn't bother visiting here again.

A great family beach, with a good infrastructure, and calm sea. But don't eat in those restaurants, they are overpriced!!!

Barra da Lagoa is the perfect choice for those looking for a quiet yet adorable place. The town is compact still offering dinning options, supermarkets (some of which accept credit cards) and buffet places (either to go or to dine in) by kilo (fixed price by kilo, so pick your meal and final price will be based on tge weight... Really nice place to just chill out and enjoy the small town and large beach. Lots of places to stay and restaurants. There is a surf school at the beach and plenty to see and do in the area. recommend you cross the blue bridge over the canal and turn left to find a smaller less crowded beach.

I went to Barra for a week holiday in July while I was working in Brazil and it was definitely a highlight! If you have the chance to go, I would highly recommend it. The scenary, food, beaches, crowds, surfing and atmosphere was very memorable. I was in Brazil for 6 months and most of my best stories/memories are from... More
