This is the first hill up on the way to Rio's famous Sugar Loaf. It offers it's own marvelous view from the top (215 meters) but its base is also a good place for hiking.

You'll get very nice pictures, and you can walk up there if you don't mind the mosquitos, and want to enjoy the green and blue sight!!!

The Morro da Urca is just as beautiful as the Sugar Loaf. The cable car stops on its way to the latter, so it is easy to spend some time of the Morro de Urca. It is about 250 m high, about 50% of the Sugar Loaf height. It offers spectacular panoramic views of Christ the Redeemer and Corcovado, Copacabana... More

As the first stop on the gondola, you are where the helicopter tours pick up. Neat to see them coming in for a landing. It's good to spend a few minutes there, checking out the gondolas of past years and how they've changed. The views are wonderful even knowing what's ahead. I strongly recommend to visit Morro da Urca during the trip to Pao de Açucar. I don't expect so much after visiting Christ the Redempter but, trust me, it's necessary to delight these landscapes...

The best views over Rio, best to go there for the sunset! There is a lovely beach nearby which gives you stunning view of the Sugar loaf.
