One of the few beaches in the Rio de Janeiro state where you won't find huge buildings ruining the view. Lots of nature and natural sorroundings - mainly locals visiting the beach. Safe, nice and a good experience.

Clean, uncrowded, quiet. Just you and the breaking waves in most places along this beach. Like they say, the best part of Niteroi is the view of Rio.

One of the farthest oceanic beaches of Niterói, it's located in quiet and safe neighborhood. It's considered to be a surfer paradise and also one of the most beautiful in the region. Recommend it.

Beautiful, and nicely tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Rio. Mostly locals hang out together every Saturday afternoon. Great atmostphere, vendors with food and agua de coco right on the sand. The ocean has a strong current though! Swimmers beware.

its a nice place, but my visit was on a rainy day that made the place seem different, not many people were there, its similar to copacabana by the look, the water is not that clean, at least it seemed so. but the view on the far side is very country like, the small hills and a few house on... More

The lucky few that like at Itacoatiara beach have got it right - no buildings allowed - All houses have tropical gardens with the beach in front and a rainforest hillside at the back. There are a few grourmet kioks as well for those that wish to enjoy lunch or diner listening to the sound of the waves!

It's a clean beach, good for bath but sometimes dangerous. The view is great and there are some rocks you can climb or get to the top by a trail. There are good places to have lunch and some guys that cross the sand selling foods and drinks.

It is worth to take a day trip from Rio to Itacoatiara. It takes 1.30-2.00 hours to get there from Rio's south zone: you must take a taxi or a bus to Centro (15 Novembre square) at the docks. Take the ferry and cross over to Niteroi. At the dock in Niteroi, just across the street, there is a bus... More

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city of Ri, this is a great option. Small, clean, secluded beach in a nice environment. Few dining and accomodation options but it's worth a day trip from Rio.
